[cite aria-level=0 aria-posinset=0 aria-setsize=0]Posted By: JimboCAFC[/cite]right Luton Town was chanting "who are ya" when it was 0-0 and a small batch of nine teenagers start chanting "who are ya" back and around 20 steward come to escort us to futher down the East stand towards the North to Block G i believe. the thing is straight after we scored because i was in Block A i was able to have a convosation with a Luton Fan and had a little bit of banter and a couple minutes later the stewards come. they also threatened to kick me out because i said it was pathetic.

    Change the record.

Why change the record our own fans are getting treated worse and worse but hey lets not worry hey

Anyone see the bog roll thrown on the pitch ? not much said about that is there

Use a bit of common sense. The Jimmy Seed was packed to the rafters. With 100s probably engaging with the 10-15 teenagers.

So as a stadium safety officer, what do you do. Send stewards into a packed end to try and pick out the 100s giving it, or make an attempt to diffuse the situation by moving 10-15 teenagers away from a completely empty block to another completely empty block ?

Rather than criticise the ones that didn't show yesterday.....congratulate the ones that did - it was bloody cold !

    "Ain't that the truth" Thought I !
Totally unconnected with the above incident admittedly -but last week after the Yeovil game whilst fans were pouring out there were 50 or 60 of us watching the TV's waiting for the league tables coming up on SSN, to see where we were in the league (naturally) there were a gaggle of stewards gathered near the TV's creaming off about Arsenal and when SSN were just about to show the League One table they turned the TV's off without the slightest idea that Charlton fans may be interested in where Charlton were in the league!
I know they have a job to do and need to clear the stadium but it wouldn't really have hurt them to have kept the TV on for 30 more seconds, they really didn't give four x about what we thought and off it went anyway, it wasn't as if we were the last people in the stadium as there were still hundreds milling about, not a big thing but quite annoying nontheless.

[cite]Posted By: Off_it[/cite]Why is everyone so keen on beating ourselves up about a sub-£10k crowd?

Jeez, back in our Sellout and Upton Park days we would've loved a crowd as big as today - even in the top division. Absolutely ridiculous comments.

    Where's that then? I must've missed it.

The thread started with someone moaning about stewards, then someone criticised the Luton support, then I defended their support...?

Yep, you must've done. But never fear, I have helped you out below. It's ok, you don't need to thank me.
[cite]Posted By: nth london addick[/cite]luton fans were excellent sang enough very hard to keep going when out of 4 sides only 1 sings charlton fans were appaling we have no right to comment on their support.
[cite]Posted By: Bedsaddick[/cite]I don't think we have any right to criticise the Luton contingents today as our showing was nothing short of pathetic. having said that , the way we play in cup games it's hardly surprising.

Sadly I agree. I remember at the end of the Blackpool game when we were relegated, a bunch of stewards taking the pee out of one who supported Charlton. Of the others it was apparent that one supported Chelsea, but I don't know about the rest. I remember being shocked at their insensitivity at the time. Somehow I expected that they would have been bothered at the club's plight (I'm sure some would have been later when the resulting job cuts happened). I know that some clubs go out of their way not to recruit fans as stewards because they want neutrals who are happy to look at the crowd rather than the match, it'd be interesting to know what our policy is on this.

Precisely! I don't care if they are fans or not but it would be nice if they had shown a little respect to the people who essentially pay their wages and be a little sensitive to the needs of the supporters of our club. This is not a blast at all stewards- there are some decent ones at The Valley who go out of their way to be helpful and kind to supporters, just a whinge at the ones who clearly don't give a rats bum!

I think this issue needs addressing and soon the stewarding has always been below par IMHO, BUT this are getting worse and worse with more and more people getting treated badly, i fear someone will do something they regret if the standard keeps slipping.
