Queensland Addick mentioned our heavy losses to Luton in the past and yes I too was present for the 7-1 drubbing away and the 5-1 reverse at home .
I remember travelling to Luton on the back of a good run and we were completely walloped ..Lil fucillo(it may have been Ricky Hill) hit a shot from about 35 yards that left Jeff Wood rooted to the spot ,they also scored a goal from a free kick routine/through our wall ( almost walked the ball into the net ).the pre match drinks in the little social club underneath the old stand were the highlight ...we were well and truly mullered ! the drive home with my LAC Rovers "oppos" was very dispiriting ....we gave them Paul Walsh , Paul Elliot and Matt Tees ...we got "Killer " ....
Luton had a damn good side then managed by Harry Haslam ...

Home - The great Paulo Di Canio single handedly sparking a fightback / penalty shoot-out, that became the catalyst for a brilliant season.
I seem to recall there were quite a few Charlton in the end i was situated.
I was one of them . It was home fans only and i got in with a Luton Town supporting friend behind the goal. Wish i hadnt. Terrible day.
I was there, my old man somehow managed to sort a couple of hundred tickets for CAFC fans that day, we were dotted about everywhere
think they put 5 past us in one of those games and probably on plastic ... remember going into a pub in luton and someone dishing loads of the swipe cards out , i think airman brown was involved
remember everyone getting tickets except me as i had been promised comps.
the comps didn't turn up and i had to give a steward a fiver to let me in for the 2nd half.
also 1 year remember persuading a luton fan to 'sign me in' as his guest.
they let me pay for the ticket, get through the turnstyle before taking me to a police room to have my mugshot taken. the luton fan had his s/t confiscated.
a few years later, imagine how proud my dad was when he worked at the valley to find i was on some known hoolies list.
yeah i think so
We started awfully but Parker and then Di Canio dragged us back into it.
McSheffrey scored a blinder for them.
Campbell Ryce came on and set up Di Canios third, thought we had unearthed a talent on the wing.
Pens seemed to go on for ages- 8-7 I think before their player's was saved by Deano.
Losing in extra time a few years ago, MCCarthy and Bougherra having a shocker.
Flying to Barcelona with Easyjet.
think we had squad numbers on our shirts for the first time and thought i pulled a fast one on the spread bookies buying the shirt numbers at 22ish (which is what it would have been for a standard 1-11 match) ..... justice was done and as usual i lost the bet

They were probably doing it for your own good. Nothing in Luton should be approached without wearing plastic gloves, a gasmask and a condom. It is the absolute arsehole of the world.
As someone who has lived in Bedfordshire for 9 years (without ever being tempted to visit the cesspit) I feel I have the right to pass this totally objective comment. And if the Oak Road stand wasn't the worst in the league (when they were) I can't imagine which one I've missed
Some wag managed to get on the mic and announce "would Stan Flashman please come to the bar"
For those who don't know the infamous Stan, he was a well known ticket tout, google him!
I went to most away ganes then and the rumour on the away terraces was that you could buy tickets in the Brewery Tap and that's where I got my plastic entry ticket thing. I seem to recall that the bloke selling them said they were given out to staff at the factory where he worked. He collected them up and sold them on to whoever wanted them. Makes you wonder how Luton went bust?
.
About a dozen of us got in as the people I was with were postmen from Woolwich who knew postmen from Luton I think?
There were other Charlton scatted all over the ground as when we scored you could hear a faint cheer from 3 sides of the ground!
My sister (who is a copper in plumstead) told me the other day that their "intelligence" (sic) is more concerned with the luton match than they were when we played the spanners last season, so expect a high police presence on saturday.
I was at the 5-2 game. We needed to win as we were in relegation trouble and think we were 4-0 down at half time. One was a Walshie o.g. My brother and I got tickets through a mate's mate who was a Luton fan and we had to buy the knob a pint after the game to say thanks. Grim night, grimmer place.
Loads of Charlton in the ground though, which at least meant it was a game still talked about.
My other memory from when Luton banned away fans was when they played Tottenham and they had about 5,000 fans in the ground. Ridiculous decision to go along with the electronic turnstiles and plastic pitch.

Also remember getting into their ground back in the 80's when the ban was on. Lost 1-0.
