The Sky Blue Away Kit...

.....I really quite like it, its smart and looks great with the dark blue shorts.

We have had some shocking away kits over the last 15-20 years though, my worst were those awful purple/green conflagrations - I could never work out what the idea behind those were. I was never a fan of the blue/black cross-stripes (91/92) either or the all-black thing we wore at Highbury in the 4-2 win.

The absolute stand-out best away kit for me - and this will only be remembered by the 30+ brigade on here - was the all yellow kit we wore in the 1988/89 season, most memorably in the 2-2 draw at Highbury with great goals from Morts and Mackenzie.

I would have sold my Grandmother into the brass trade to get one of those kits but we never sold them on a retail basis.

Does anyone have any pictures of that kit? I would love to see it again!

You forgot the battleship grey effort which, if the floodlights weren't very good, rendered the team invisible. That game at Highbury was a classic, I seem to remember it was a couple of days before the meeting at Woolwich when we announced we were going back to The Valley. The word had begun to leak out and the mood was pretty euphoric throughout, particularly when Macca equalised - what a moment that was.
  • Best away kit ever was the white with red trim 'Redbus' one. End of.

I was at Highbury too a great game and two great addicks goals. I am afraid I am a fan of rubbish away kits, strong believer in traditional home kit but like the wacky away loved the green white and thin red hoops, I think last worn on tv away to Bolton on the occaision of their last game at Boundary Park (?), being a lucky shirt we lost 4-1,I think Kins scored for us.

Well at least I put a question mark after it!

Blunden Park I think, Boundary Park is Oldham...... Although I may be wrong!!!

I think you are looking for Burnden Park!
  • Yep - Burnden Park. Bolton were the best team in the division by a country mile that year - but we matched them in the first half and went in 1-0 courtesy of one of Kins's best ever goals for us - an absolute f***ing rocket from at least 30 yards out. Sadly, reality struck in the second half and they won 4-1

    This.

The away kit should be white shirts, red shorts and white socks, or all yellow. We've had too many blue over the past few seasons.

Yep Burnden it was...and its the only time that kit was ever worn....Ive got a match worn long sleeve shirt from that game No11 no idea who wore it and Ive tried getting a programme to verify it. Also have a short sleeve retail version. Rarest of the latter day Post 1990 shirts is the White 3rd shirt from 96/97 that looks a bit like the German national shirt with a red and black band across the front Viglen logo. And the rare as hens teeth Blue back to the Valley shirt.

  • That blue and black one of Tels is probably my favourite, although I never owned it - I had a home kit that season and Mum & Dad couldn't afford to buy me both :-( I'd definitely buy one if the club re-released it.

The purple and green one is good too, although I prefer the white one with the three stripes down the left chest - that was the shirt I was wearing on that glorious day in May 98 so it has sentimental value. I can just about still squeeze into it if I breath in good and hard!
  • Exiled...
  • That's the one Tel - if I ever manage to shed some of this excess timber I'm carrying around, I'm gonna start wearing that to matches again.
