  • Comments don't have to come from just those that attended. Many people listened to the whole match on CAFC Player just as I did.

Doherty - 8 has been getting a bit of stick lately but played very well
Wagstaff - 8 I've never been his number one fan but he is Proving me wrong which I hoped he would, played very well
Semedo - 9 How a few on here criticised him I will never know, the bloke is every where his all round play is top draw.
Racon - 8 linking very well with Semedo, he is growing in confidents as games are coming thick and fast. well done Therry
Jackson - 8 looks good not the fastest but his footballing skills helps the centre midfield out a lot.
Benson - 9 linking up well with Anyinsah brilliantly, his all round play is so much better, well done Parky for keeping him in the team when he could have easily dropped him
Anyinsah - 9 The missing link! his hold up play is very good and his strong on the ball, fingers cross he stays fit!!

  • Sorry
    Dailly 6 ok
  • Elliot: 8 - Good saves, a couple of brave and well judge takes and no worrying moments. Kicking was a little wayward but wind didn't help.

Francis: 7 - He still worries me a little defensively as he can be a bit casual and prone to ball watching, but he does add something going forward and is starting to build an understanding with Waggy. Good set pieces too.

    Dailly: 7.5 - Solid

Doc: 7 - Struggled a little in the 1st half with high balls caught on the strong wind. Got better though and got his head on most balls into the box. A threat from set pieces in the second half.

Fry: 7.5 - Strong and quick and much more natural defender than Jacko. We look soild down that flank with them attacking and defending in tandem. Great delivery for Anyinsah's goal.

Waggy: 8 - Work rate, work rate, work rate. Looks confident and carried a goal threat, particularly in the first half, in fact probably should have scored when clean through. Most encouragingly though, he's adding creativity to his game with a great assist for Benson's goal.

Semedo: 8.5 - Vintage Jose all over them like a rash, everytime they got the ball and neraly always chose the right option when he won it back. Great comedy value when he got a complete nose bleed when leading a breakaway and basically ran the ball straight out ofn play.

Racon: 7.5 - Him and Jose always seemed to have time on the ball and Racon was getting involved and doing the right things. As a pair they look a cut above when they play like this. Sublime first touch allowed him to control a ball that probably would have gone out of for a throw otherwise, he then played a simple lay-off to Fry who crossed for Anyinsah to make it 2-0. That kind of thing won't show up on his stats, but it's kind of technical ability he offers and that few others do in this division. Let's hope he continues to channel it well.

Jacko: 7.5 - Took his goal well and supported Fry and the central midfielders well. We look more balanced having another passer in the midfield - playing with 2 wingers can be exciting, but a bit one dimensional when you have Reidy/Waggy/Martin just dribbling at every opportunity.

Benson: 7.5 - Not at the fore for the whole ninety minutes, but always a threat (if that makes sense). He's beginning to remind me a little of Mendonca (stop laughing) in the way he comes deep, holds the ball up, plays a simple lay-off wide and immediately turns and takes up smart positions in the box. Perhaps Deon Burton with a weaker first touch but a goalscorer's instinct is a better comparison. Works hard too.

Anyinsah: 9 - Didn't stop running all night. Chases, and usually wins, lost causes and seems a good foil for Benson - Joe's pace strectches teams and pushes them back, Benno drops into the space that creates. Glad he got a goal as reward.

  • 430....I was in the main stand.

Elliot - 8 Two excellent stops in the first half and good handling in the 2nd (he was fouled for the one he dropped).
Francis - 8 Defended well and gave helped supply Wagstaff. The master of the over shoulder clearance.
Fry - 8 Apart fom one early slip (he was done by Austin) he was really solid. Won his headers and tackles, linked well with Jackson and crossed well for Joe.
Dailly - 8 So dominant in the air and read the game superbly.
Doherty - 8 Same as Dailly. His defending of two 1st half corners was excellent and he looked a threat from our 2nd half corners. He'll score soon.
Wagstaff - 8 This was more of a complete performance than Saturday. Nearly scored and was a threat all night. Outstanding run and cross for Benson.
Semedo - 8.5 Was everywhere for 90 mins. Tackles, headers, passes.
Racon - 8.5 Same as Semedo. Prutton had a good game for Swindon and is a fine player but as a pair Semedo & Racon outshone him.
Jackson - 8 Perfect away performance. Used the ball so well and smashed home his goal perfectly. Got some tackles in and did his share of the hard work.
Benson - 8 Played the tactical game to perfection. Dropped into an advanced midfield position when we lost the ball. Rewarded for his unselfish work with a superb header from Wagstaff's brilliant cross.
Anyinsah - 9 Only his lack of fitness (or the fact that he'd done SO much running) stopped him from being too effective in the last ten minutes but for 80 minutes he was brilliant. He chased so many lost causes and never gave Swindon a moment's peace. His touch was assured and his runs were good. So glad he scored because he really deserved it.

This was the best Charlton performance I've seen since the good days. Every single player did his job and more. Yes Swindon still had four very good chances but as an overall game Charlton knocked the fight out of them by winning battles all over the pitch and their heads dropped and their performance disintegrated. The pitch and the opposition were tailor made for football and it was excellent to watch.
