Statbank - what's happened to it?

I miss it. Can we at least get the player averages by match, please?

  • Hear, hear Weegie

Don't know why Statbank was banned by Admin (not part of the Clique most likely) but please allow it to return.

    : - )
  • Its called having TWINS.....poor bugger didnt know if he was coming or going when I saw him last
  • He needs to learn to delegate then, Tel - sure some of us on here would help out! With Statbank that is, rather than the twins ;-)
  • I think he would prefer the help to be allocated to the Twins...apparently they can scream for England

    Its nearly there Weegs.

Its my fault. Its a hugely time consuming task and so far this season i've had the combination of increased workload and increased family to juggle and things related to here have unfortunately had to take a back seat.

I'm fully up to date with match stats (goals scored / conceded, possession, shots on / off target, corners, fouls, yellow cards, red cards, attendances, time of goals scored / conceded).

I'm up to date excluding Saturday for all the player ratings.

I just need to bring up to date now the accumulated goals, assists, yellow and red cards per player (if anyone wants to trawl through the match reports and compile these in the next couple of days it wil be much appreciated).

I intend to have it up to date this week and then pass on to Lancashire Lad, who kindly offered to take it forward.

Seperately, there is also the trade off with whether ultimately they are worth compiling.

I've mentioned before that things like the Statbank, Articles, the away fan interviews etc are very poorly read in comparison to other threads on here. Its hard for me to gauge at times what exactly people want, and not to waste time on things people aren't bothered out. Its hard because if i write or compile something myself it becomes more difficult for me to accurately gauge am i doing something that is adding value, or do i think that simply because it is me that is doing it ? Does that make sense ?

We've always strived to offer things in addition to simple message board threads, because in my opinion it is offering something of improved quality. But the bottom line is there isn't too much interest in it.

Looking at the site stats for Friday for example. Only 1 in 10 unique visitors to the site clicked on the away fan interview, whilst more than twice as many clicked on the Take That thread or the Owl in Peace thread. It wasn't even in the Top 10 of threads for that day, so you can understand why i've certain reservations about finding what on a personal note is becoming increasingly squeezed free time to dedicate to things that aren't particularly popular, and which don't instigate much debate or comment.
  • Perversely I think "stickies" get opened less than ordinary threads and therein lies the problem.

Perhaps the answer is to let it float (as opposed to sink) for a while and make it a sticky if and when it plummets down the board. It would be interesting to see whether it makes a difference.

this is an often muted point, and is complete and utter ballcocks.

If people do not notice 'stickies' then they are either blind, stupid, obstinate or a combination of the first two. There are only ever a couple of stickies, they are not seperated from the rest of the forum, they are no difference in colour and the only difference is they start with the word Sticky.

They change every day, and are only individually stickied for 2-3 days max, so its not a static set that sits there for weeks.

If people are mentally conditioned to not read the first 2 or 3 rows, then they equally must have no idea how Arsenal or Aston Villa have done at home for the last few years.

As for letting them float, the simple reason we don't is because by their nature they don't attract much in terms of comment, so they sink very very quickly. Kind of experimented a little bit in the past.
  • Stat bank is great Dan and its very much appreciated, but to make it easier for you or LL, just make it a bit a bit more simple. The best bit is the player/MOM stats for me....assists/ cards etc not really too bothered about...whatever, its appreciated from this neck of the woods.
  • Here here...

stat bank and the interiew with an away fan are prob two of the best features of this site, I for one try to view them when ever i notice a new one, even if i havent been to the match and voted

And I also never viewed and never would view a topic on take that, i'v found it very sad that 20% of people viewing the site viewed that thread, what the hell is wrong with society today?!

    ...........

Speaking personally because some threads are stickies I tend to read them last - preferring to catch up with the non-stickied threads before they disappear into the nether regions of page 2. My reasoning is that the stickied threads aren't going anywhere and I can read them at any time.
