I've gone for a draw. This Charlton team is performing poorly but just to prolong the deliberations of Mr. Murray I think we will stagger on picking up points and winning occasionally but not enough to think in terms of promotion or relegation. The Chinese water torture springs to mind. Hasn't Reid all but promised us a victory ?
I'm usually the eternal optimist but I just don't get it anymore. I can't see anything but a bad performance from Charlton so, even if we draw or win, I'm guessing it'll still be a bad performance (hope that makes sense).
So, I'm voting for a loss. This is not only about the result but also about the performance and, for me, that's the core issue.
A draw and no-one's mind changing on the Parky situation. Those who want him to go now will stay the same, others will put it off as one of the games he should be given to prove a point. Important thing to me is team and set-up, Parky needs to prove he is willing and able to shake things up after last week.
2-2 ....... 2 own goals for us and another 2 long range efforts for the opposition , is our goalie shit or does every team let in shed loads of shots from outside the area

Every week I've voted either a win or a draw........how deluded must I have been.....sorry to say this but for the very first time I've voted for a loss for the addicks. It pains me to do so as I've always been optimistic, but having listened (and given updates on here) to last weeks shambolic effort, and since then seen the goals on CAFC player, I feel as though we could be in for another tonking.
As a faint hope however, IF Parky can get the team to play football and IF he sets the team up with the players that Henry in his post suggests then we may get a point, but I'm not holding my breath. Another pxxs poor saturday night feeling I'm afraid to say!!
I'm going for a very very very optimistic draw. I do have a slight hope as Reid, Benson and Parky have all came out saying that a lot was learnt from Brighton and everyone needs to put in a performance for 90 mins starting at Carlisle but probably a load of hot air and the same old Charlton will turn up with no ideas, no imagination and no creation. Made even worse by the loss of Kyle who is arguarbly our only form player. I'll predict a 0-0.
I arrive in Carlisle at 10:46 so my tactics are to just drink enough that I won't remember it!
Expecting a change of system to 4-5-1, and changes in personnel. Parky cant afford another defeat on the back of last Saturday. Hes outside the "last chance saloon" looking in through the window, and will be in it for the home game v Wednesday if we lose this one.
Docherty, Racon & Abbott for the chop, Reid out injured. In comes Francis, Fry & McCormack, with Jackson in left midfield. Fortune & Dailly in central defence. Martin behind Benson in attack. Wagstaffe (unfortunate) & Anyinsah on the bench. Both capable impact substitutes.
A number of you refer to Parkinson comments on being surprised by Brighton's tactics last Saturday. As an ex-Scout/Assessor, I can't believe that comment. This is either veiled criticsm towards the scouting set-up or a failure to admit he got his tactics wrong. As detailed in the recent "Charlton Scouts" thread, all clubs have 2 x opposition assessors out covering the next two opponents, normally the Chief Scout plus one other (usually an ex player or manager). Charlton will be covering Sheff Wed & Swindon on Saturday, our next opponents. Each report will detail; System, Pattern of Play, Tactical Strengths, Weaknesses, each individual role in the system & detail each Set Play. So Brighton will have been covered at least twice, plus as they were on Sky, there was also be a video. The manager will select his team taking into account the reports and Friday's training will involve dealing with opposition set plays (which are usually the same every week). It would be interesting to know why we weren't set up to deal with Brighton's system, and why we were caught out by the same set play twice at the first goal & immediatly after. It might be a failure by the manager/coaching staff, or it may simply be that the players failed to carry-on instructions, only those inside the club will know. I hope the scouting reports on Carlisle have been more accurate and there has been more attention to detail in the overall preparation.
Having seen all the league matches this season, the main problem has been that we are too open in central midfield and easy to play through when the opposition gains possession. This area is the hub or engine-room of the team, and affects all other parts of the team. Not only that, if you break-up opposition play early in the central areas, you can launch attacks from higher up the pitch and create pressure, which has only happened in short periods. Parky should set us up as difficult to beat on Saturday to ensure we dont concede, so I'm going for a draw.
i just feel a bit nothingy on this game. would like to see us put in a half decent performance for once and hopefully win,but i won't be stressing to find out our result.

I reckon you're probably right but couldn't be arsed to type it out !
Out of all of the football teams, that I ever knew, that should have been great, that should of somehow knew, it should have been you, Charlton, it should have been you.
Charlton plays in the moonlight With its team decked in red and white But the crowd is colourless And can we hear voices saying things That we can’t believe in anymore. Seen too many castles crumble Seen too many innocent mistakes And who could have known that one team Could hold so much heartbreak? And when the whistle it blows The wind blows in – the crowd, it suddenly roars Charlton doesn’t want, Charlton doesn’t need We claw at our face With our nails till it bleeds Then Curbishley is there and his voice is soft He pulls Charlton close He soothes Charlton’s cuts and gently chides that You needn’t be afraid Because there are sailors on the sea tonight In ships God made And they sing as they pull Our lost souls ashore.
I was considering going up for this one a couple of weeks ago, I'm now glad I didn't bother wasting my money. I've optimistically gone for a draw but we really are a dreadful side at the moment and realistically I just hope we don't get hammered.
It’s not straight-forward that because you’re a big club and have been in the Premier League that you can get out of it quickly,” said the Blues boss.
“I had a long conversation with Alan Irvine from Sheffield Wednesday this week, and he was very complimentary about how high the standard of League One is and how high the standard of coaching and management is at this level.
“He said he thought that at Premier League and Championship level players did all the talking for managers but at this level you have to do more thinking.
“Hopefully we can make it difficult for Charlton as well. They’re a massive club who were in the Premier League not too long ago and are finding life tough.
“We’ve got to get stuck in and take the game to Charlton while they are a bit wounded. We will have a right go at them.
“They are full of experience and quality and know what they are doing.
“We’ve caused them problems in the past and we have to try to exploit all their possible weaknesses.”

Can't be there this time round due to family commitments etc but no doubt will be wishing I was at 3pm tomorrow.
...and glad you weren't at 5pm tomorrow ;-)
