  • Well then chaps and chappettes.

As stated this is now on Thursday 20th January. Same time, same place.

Richard Murray will still be in attendance.

A great opportunity for all Addicks fans, even if you're not from the area, to pop along for the first meeting after the takeover!

We hope to see you all there!
  • Tempted to make the trek from Bromley. Always good value.
  • Up again.

Richard Murray has confirmed his attendance regardless of the current goings on.

So, as said, first meeting after the takeover (and hopefully the new managerial appointment) so the perfect opportunity to fire some questions his way.
  • The address for those who missed it is

    Ashford Hockey Club
    Ball Lane
    Ashford
    Kent
    TN25 4EB
  • Richard Murray has today confirmed that he will be in attendance at the Inaugural Meeting of the Ashford&Shepway Addicks Supporters Branch commencing 7-30pm at the Ashford Hockey Club, Ball Lane, Ashford, Kent, TN25 4EB on Thursday 20th January, 2011. This will be the first supporters meeting since the takeover and managerial changes at the Club. All Charlton Supporters are welcome to attend and pose their questions to Richard Murray. For further information, please contact AshfordandShepwayAddicks at talktalk.net or at Ashford Addicks on Facebook.
  • Well done Ashford Addick, really looking forward to it. Better be worth it though seeing as you've nicked the slot for the East Kent Addicks Inaugural Meeting :-)
But it leaves us with time to get in the new owners, anyone know the dialling code for the BV Islands?
  • Our first meeting should have taken place on 2nd December, 2010 and was snowed off. The Club and Richard Murray immediately set the date for the rearranged meeting and our only involvement was to confirm that the venue was available. Was not aware that East Kent Addicks Inaugural Meeting was due to take place the same day and it was my understanding at the Fans Forum Meeting that their representative had requested a delay until February when the weather improved. That said, the important thing is that both of our areas get the recognition from the Club that our support deserves and I personally look forward to attending your Inaugural Meeting with the new owners in attendance, once you have sorted out how to contact them.
  • See you Monday John
  • Nice one Pete!
  • Bump again for this to keep the interest going.

Keeps disappearing down the page...bloody manager threads! :O)

  • Bump again.

    This Thursday!
  • Good luck, I hope Thursday goes well.
  • Anyone going along to this?
  • The easiest way for those Charlton supporters travelling from London to our Inaugural Meeting at the Ashford Hockey Club on Thursday is to leave the M20 at Junction 10, following which they should take the first exit on the left signposted Canterbury. This will then take them past both the William Harvey Hospital and the Julie Rose Stadium prior to their coming to the next roundabout, where the Conningbrook Hotel is situated. Here they will take the last exit, the A28 again signposted Canterbury. Once on the A28 they will need to proceed approximately 200 yards and then turn into the second Road on the left named “The Street”. This Road has traffic calming humps and they should then take the third Road on the right “Church Road”. From here the next junction is “Ball Lane” and they should turn right here and follow the Road right down as far as they can go to the Ashford Hockey Club. In the event that anyone should experience difficulties in finding the location, the telephone number for Ashford Hockey Club is 01233 631315. There is ample parking with space for something in the region of 80 cars.

I was really looking forward to this, but now something's come up and I can't go. Could those who attend, without committing any potentially damaging indiscretions, let us know how we should feel after RM has spoken:

    a) Very reassured. ;-)
    b) Reassured.
    c) Neutral.
    d) Worried.
    e) Suicidal. :-(

    Would be much appreciated!
  • Thank you to all of those who turned up last night. Around 50 attended what was a very good meeting.

I had to leave early unfortunately, but only missed about 15 mins. What Richard Murray told us was very reassuring and I have to say I am optimistic about the future. And from what he told us about a frantic summer for himself I'm sure he deserves a very hard earned break after getting us where we are now.

As said, thank you again for those who attended last night. Those who couldn't make it, we hope to see you at the next meeting, details of which will be announced in the future.
  • would have liked to come but other commitments.

What did RM say about Slater and Jimenez plus their backers?
  • 50 is a very good turn out, especially for a first meeting. It will grow as the word spreads.

    Well done to all involved.

Good question... Has anybody even posed this question since the takeover?
I've read and seen every interview I can, regarding the takeover, and it has it even been asked?
Will we ever know who's bankrolling us?
  • Like Ross, I came away from the meeting last night with a warm glow inside, feeling greatly encouraged by what Richard Murray had to say and looking forward to what may be the start of an exciting period in our Club’s history. There is now no doubt in my mind that Michael Slater, Tony Jimenez and the other wealthy investors involved are in it for the long haul and are committed to getting us back into the Championship either this year or next and the Premiership as soon as possible thereafter. It appears to me that the time has now come for all supporters to get 100% behind the new regime and hopefully share together in the good days to come.
  • sounds positive, excellent turn out as well for a first meeting
  • Murray doesn't know himself and he doubts we'll ever know. He believes there are many people making up the remaining 39%. However as they each own so little of the company they do not need to be disclosed, even to Lombard.
  • The important thing for me was that Richard Murray described these as seriously wealthy investors who, as is their right by owning less than 10% each, are not required to declare their respective shareholdings. Maybe not ideal but, it is something that we are all going to have to accept unless these individuals either increase their holdings or decide to come out into the open at some later date.
  • I'm happy with the status quo right now.

Everyone seems to get saying the right things - we, as fans, are hearing what we want to hear and the appointment of Powell leads me to think there is a brighter future on the cards.

Would be interested to know in a bit more detail about last night though - if anyone was taking notes.....
