Thanks to all. As my badge hasn't yet arrived, I'm going to wear a sticker saying lifer. I'm a knackered older bird who'll be wearing a bottom hiding long red cardy thing and will be trying to walk without falling over in a new pair of high heeled shoes that hubby liked! Please come and say hi, we'd love to meet you all.

Pretty sure, but one has to curry favour with the aristocracy when the opportunities present. I know my place.
• Come on, full report. Why is being kept secret? What are you not telling us?

Typical clique, been hours now since it finished, insult to fans blah blah blah wibble wibble

: - )
• Probably cos there's nothing really to tell. A curiously flat evening and, grovel grovel, not a patch on the Bromley Addicks meetings. Perhaps unfortunate in that the whole session was filmed, so Parky had to be guarded. Re Kelly, he had chosen to follow the advice of his French doctors and not the English ones, so with Agincourt fresh in our minds, it could only end in tears. Parky doesn't like this season's referees very much and the club has compiled a DVD of what it considers to poor decisions by one ref in particular and sent it to the People Who Deal With Crap Referees. Asked about his experience of his enforced sitting in the family stands, he had obviously received a great deal of abuse, complete with words that he felt were not suited to family areas. Relived the Moo2 experience, yawn. Asked about why our strikers went onto gretaer things, he pointed out that, by and large, they hadn't. Basey had gained a lot of weight, looked elsewhere for a contract and by the time it fell through it was too late to stay with us. Injury wise, things are looking better now. He felt that the gelling agent was starting to work and that things would get better. Soton and Huddersfield were the teams to watch. He was aware that he needed to play to Benno's strengths but needed a bit more from him defensively to cover the times when another striker went foraging. Asked about the Charlton passion aspect, he felt that Kins provided this plus Keith Peacock dropped in once a week to see the players. He felt that the supporters had understood that the tremendous upheavals this season had created many problems and that that we were being very supportive this season. Had we gone up last season, there would have been very little money available to strengthen the team and we would have struggled. Important to hang onto Racon and Semedo and both Parky and RM are very much aware of the possibilities of losing them if contracts are not signed. Sorry, but that's about all I can remember. It really wasn't a very productive evening.
• Thanks SA for the report and the backhanded compliment to Bromley Addicks.

Did the VIPs elect a rep for the Fans Forum?

how many there?
• Yes, a new FF guy was elected on a show of hands. He was the one who asked about Moo2, but he came across as very confident and articulate. About 80 people there.

Eh ! When in England, playing English football, should not our medical 'opinion' be the most important factor here........

Why would a player not want to play!, and seek alternative advice, most players want to get back too early in my opinion!....... To have the rest of the season off seems very generous!

I guess everyone is entitled to a second medical opinion. I expect quite a few people, especially when faced with the prospect of surgery, would prefer to get a second opinion. Maybe it is precisely because he wanted to continue playing, that he wanted a non-surigcal option, who knows?. Kelly returned to France, understandable in some ways - he could use his first language, but he got a differing opinion that didn't involve surgery and went with that. It turned out to be the wrong choice but I guess he's now older and wiser. He's now had the surgery he wanted to avoid. Scant comfort though for the paymasters.
• As SA reported, not many 'revelations', probably because the range of questions was similar (understandably, I suppose) to those put at the recent Bromley meeting, and the presence of MW filming the event made it hard for PP to comment much other than about players who have moved on, such as Andy Gray made a poor start and never improved, McKenzie was never fit, Luke Varney couldn't seem to make the transition from Crewe to £MM Charlton 'star', McLeod 'not good enough', Moo2 'wouldn't be told' re shortcomings. A bit more on the Jonjo situation, with Liverpool having no-one suitable to loan to us, and a nice little story about Sir Alex sticking to his promises.
Ross Worner is seen as one for the future, to grow and learn with the club rather than having a 'senior' keeper as backup to RE.
PP said that while 'route 1' football can produce goals, it's not 'the Charlton way' and he wants to influence the Academy youngsters by having the 1st team play passing football. It is also quite possible that Reid might get a set-piece 'on-target' tomorrow!!
• Just remembered thanks to Solar, most promising for the future = Jordan Cousins and Conor Gough, 6'6" goalie and still growing.
•
[cite]Posted By: Solaraddick[/cite] it's not 'the Charlton way' and he wants to influence the Academy youngsters by having the 1st team play passing football. !
The Academy youngsters play passing football already - it's the 1st team who have to learn the lesson.
• PP also mentioned that he'd considered bringing Mooney back, but thought it would have a negative affect on the crowd, so chose to 'freshen things up' instead
He also misses reserve-team fixtures - the league gives a competitive edge/points that don't come with training-ground friendlies.
Congrats to Craig on his election as VIP rep on FF :-) (we were 'dropped in the deep end' with the instant hustings!!)
• Thanks SA & SA.

Not surprised that was a reason for not bringing Mooney back.
• was that Craig Norris?
• No, Henry, different Craig - I didn't catch his last name, which will no doubt be revealed on the OS when the news story is published. Probably video footage (inchage?) on the Player too!!

• Cheers Clive

PS Will Morrison was asking after you recently. Our sons are at School together.
• Never been to a Q & A with Parkinson before this one but happy to report back that as per previous reports Parky is a really great bloke and did show up.

Was more surprised to go to an event that was for 5 year season tickets holders, which meant to be there you need to give the club a minimum of £1500 the whole audience had to have someone (ex fans director) to tell all of them that they needed to know what Valley Gold was and we needed to put in another £120 a year into the club.

At least Airman had the good grace at the start of the meeting to thank us all for the contribution we had all made and the club was grateful.
