Any insurance brokers out there?

I need cover for a small car fleet, public and liability insurance - as insurance is a big rip off, i'd rather get ripped off by a charlton fan (only joking) if not any recommendations?

  • For commercial type insurances, i use a firm in Kent who have always been useful and professional.

whisper me your email and phone no and i will get my contact to call you.

    Michael.
  • Sorry, can't give you any recommndations. However, you think you are being ripped off but you're not. Premiums are so high these days because there are so many claims, genuine and fradulent. These types of claims increase massively each year putting the burden on insurance companies to increase premiums. Take for example a low velocity whip lash claim being awarded £1,000 at trial. Claimant solicitors costs could be in the region of £25K and Defendant Solicitors £10K. Those costs are on top of dealing with damage to repairs. So that's 70 people (at say an average of £500 per policy) covering the cost of this one personal injury claim. Aside from that, I really can't see the need to have insurance brokers these days as you would think that there would be something in place (say through the internet) to go directly to Underwriters (say at Lloyd's) for such insurances. That would save between 10-20% on such policies.

Only just seen this thread, Keith, I work at an Insurance Brokers, don't deal with this myself as I'm an Underwriter, however I'm happy to point you in the right direction if you want to drop me a whisper of what you're looking for and where you are based.

isnt that why we have no claims bonus' though?

I too work in insurance, and somehow they still make a huge amount of dosh out of it, funny that
  • Motor Brokers especially those that work in lloyds are the biggest barrow boys of the Insurance market.

I think they spend more time in the pub or bookies than all the other Brokers (and that is saying something!!).
