I only saw the last 15 minutes on Sky

edited October 2010 in General Charlton
in which time I thought we played well! I "watched" the first 75 minutes via this site, sitting on a train that got held up and was ready to slit my wrists when I got indoors.

Were we really that bad in the first half? It may have only been 15 minutes I saw, but Reid looked dangerous, we got balls in the box and attacked them.

I pray, though I don't hold out much hope, that Parky saw what getting it wide and getting crosses in the box can do to a side and we work on that more. Get the ball to Reid. If Francis has to play, get him wide, get Wagstaff supporting him and get players in the box who can get on the end of crosses.

It ain't rocket science - especially at this level.

No. It was still an improvement on the performances against Brentford and MK Dons last week.
  • The first half was just generally a poor game of Football.

which was a continuation of last weeks match...the second half a different game of football altogether. whatever parky said at half time worked
  • The approach play was decent enough in patches in the first half, just the final ball was consistently terrible. They rectified that second half and suddenly we looked a good side.

As I've said before, evey game this season has shown signs that our season as a whole could still go either way. Last night was no different imo.
  • We created nothing first half which was the same as MKDONs forgetting their goal. Actually, we were quite good second half which shows we can do it. Maybe we need to get in the habit of playing like that before we go a goal down. Reid was excellent for most of the game and was stand out man of the match.

The problem with getting crosses in, is that our forwards (Akpo exepted) strengths are more loosing their man in the box rather than attacking the ball. This is fine away, or if our oppenents attack us and we can get space round the back. However, if like many teams in this division they have a couple of big lumps at the back who defend their box, we need a plan B.
