Whenever I saw him interviewed he always seemed like a genuinely warm and humble man. Can't say I thought a great deal of his films - different era I guess (I'M not as old as Oggy) but I know a lot did, so that'll do for me.

My wife and I saw him on the pitch before the albania/england match in tirana, did a comedy act wearing a half albanian half england shirt and the albanians adored him. Quality films, my fav was the one about the milkmen. Pitkin RIP

A hero to those of us of "a certain age" who grew up watching his films at the cinema and sometimes on television.
I was lucky enough to meet him when I was a boy and he was a gentleman.

but we have lost one here a true gentleman a true hero and a true legend his films were amazing
