Inquest into Brentford v Charlton

There will be an inquest into Charlton's 2-1 defeat in the derby with Brentford after the players revealed their gameplan to opposition winger Myles Weston before kick-off.

Weston said: “I was told their teamtalk was about me. They told me if they stopped me, they'd win the game.”

It certainly didn't work out for Charlton, as Weston gave right-back Simon Francis a torrid time and then provided the pass for Toumani Diagouraga's goal after Gary Alexander had put Brentford one up.

“I need to create,” said Weston. “I now have two or three assists but I need to add a couple of goals.”

  • But what does this mean? I don't understand what the inquest is trying to show.
I'm a bit thick, can someone explain?
  • It must mean we will be having an internal inquest. Weston looks a decent player!
  • ... Someone is getting told off?
  • So our players told Weston if we stopped him we'd win.. took things a bit OTT or is their more involved? surely it's just pre-match banter.. I mean if you can stop Drogba at Chelsea, theres a chance you might only get hit for 5 instead of 6 or 7. ;-) simple logic
  • I'd understand there being an inquest if say someone went out to break his leg. But trying to man mark a player and hence taking him out of a game is a pretty common tactic. I don't get why there would be an inquest or why even the word inquest is being used.
  • If it's true, which I doubt, then the inquest won't last very long will it.
  • It should be an inquest into why we are so poor. But then we know the answer to that. He looks useful that Weston, if only our academy could produce players of his calibre.
  • Who wants to run a book on who was the rat? :-p

Would rather there be an inquest into why we played so badly tbf

Myles was a youth player with us and we let him go and now we've fallen down to his level...
  • Said in yesterdays sun it was Martin who told him before hand. Clearly didn't work cause he had the better of Francis all day

Weston would've given him the run around regardless.
  • So, the great tactical minds at work at CAFC headquarters came up with a fantastic, complex plan... Stop Miles Weston - feck me!
  • Surely it doesn't matter if anyone told him before the game as we failed to carry out the genius plan anyway.

Are they suggesting that by telling him, he became even better?
