Why were we so desperate to get Paul Benson and then not play to his strengths?
Game after game we hoof the ball long at him. And i mean 'at' him, not to him.
I don't care if we play long ball football - it doesnt straight away make it boring, as Villa showed last year.
But why play long ball to Lee Martin and Paul Benson. Why spend £250k we don't really have on a goalscorer we're desperate for, and then pretend he's Chris Iwelumo?
Get the ball down, get it wide and put early balls into the box and he'll get on the end of them. Or drop him and play Abbot (who did well with similar service yesterday).
I like Parky and don't want him to go, but this baffles me.

Is it the way we coach them?
And there have been a few who have started playing better once they joined us or have failed to reach the level they were at when at the club.
Scott Parker hasn't done a great deal after leaving Charlton other than get unfeasonably rich, Darren Bent struggled, Nicky Bailey seems to be only a fringe player at 'Boro..
Maybe it's the way we coached them?
Darren Bent struggled??? He scored 25 goals at tottenham where he only made 43 starts. At sunderland he scored 25 goals last season and this season he is the top english league top scorer. Yeah struggling big time.....
I wish they were struggling like Benty! We'd be top of the league!
So will he keep on playing him, or drop him for others....... quite who the others are is up to debate!
I have seen little to have bought Benson! but we where we are!.......
So if it was me......... I would have him in for extra training, change his boots for ones that he did not fall over on!, and do some weights to get some upper body strength!
He can can take Tamer Tuna in with him, and say the winner of who can bench press the most starts the next game!.....over to you lads!
Might have hit the jolly old proverbial nail right on the head there, Ooh Aah.
If you sign a player, then you're best playing to his strengths. Or have I missed something ....?
