How do the Police consult about fixtures ?

edited September 2010 in General Charlton
Last night QPR V Millwall was paired with Chelsea within the same Borough in the CL. There was trouble and Neil Warnock questioned why it was played then.

On October 16th what could be the worst game to be paired with Charlton v Brighton , you guessed it Palace V Millwall.Croydon and London Bridge should be fun that day.

  • Nevermind
  • I agree a proper fun day out ;-)
  • Bit harsh considering the Champions League draw is done months after the fixtures happened.
  • So why not move Chelsea's game to Wednesday?
  • Get over it, why do we have another thread concerned with millwall ?
  • Lol MOG. Random

Because that would affect the whole champions league. Groups A-D play one night, groups E-H play the other.
QPR should've been moved to the wednesday night
  • No one should have been moved. Christ why does everyone think everything got to change just because a handful of mugs want to start running about town kicking windows and throwing things. They really aint as tough as there reputation portrays. And they thrive on people believing they are tough and that everyone fears them.

  • Nothing needed to be moved.

With the amount of plod there, putting an effective cordon on South Africa Road after holding us back for 30 minutes would've allowed the QPR kiddies and their mob to be dispersed and then a simple 10 minute walk to White City with no trouble whatsoever.

True. The police spend all afternoon trying to keep fans apart, blocking off pubs and forcing many to arrive late and miss the kick off, then they go and let both sets of fans out at the same time. Brainless.
  • According to this- http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2009/06/secrets_of_the_fixture_compute.html

the fixtures compiler supposedly takes account of potential for trouble, along with many, many other things. Makes our fixture with Brighton clashing with Palace/Scumwall even more surprising.

Bet the old bill are well chuffed that Millwall are at home this Saturday while QPR are away to Palace.
  • Largo - QPR won't come through London Bridge, they'll go via Victoria, doubt they'll have a mob out anyway.

That is presuming that they all come from Shepherds Bush area and want to go straight to Palace. Wouldn't be much of a detour to go via London Bridge if they were out for trouble, although should think that's unlikely after Tuesday.

By the way, regarding your comments about spotty Palace fans on the other thread, reckon you might be underestimating them, they are pwopa nawty these days:

I particularly liked "The founders took the core ideals of the european style of ultra mentality and adapted it it to our south london culture & way of life." I wasn't aware that sitting in your bedroom on a Saturday evening squeezing your spots and knocking one out over The Football Factory was part of the European style of ultra mentality.

Have a look at the merchandise page - there's a couple of blokes at the bottom modelling some dodgy scarves - would not want to bump into them in a dark alley!

As you say, after Tuesday they won't be looking for more trouble!

Yeah seen that website, should be interesting on the 16th. They'll be bouncing up & down, waving scarfs, throwing wanker signs, orchestrated chanting, they may even go for the big one and light a flare or two....and 4500 Millwall will laugh their heads off.

I'm hoping their so called lads who battered your women & kids on the train and who picked on 2 Millwall at a station recently are brave enough to make a show this time.
  • So QPR smashed you to bits again - we don't care, get over it .

  • Thank you.
    ;-)
  • Bound to be trouble.
  • Football policing is a joke, they could do a better job with half the resources if they showed more common sense.

oh well. only said it to wind him up - nothing gets a spanner's knickers in a twist more than thinking they had been done in the mindless violence stakes.
