Well....... what did you do this week?

edited September 2010 in Not Sports Related
Even though the weather has been better this summmer, it's been a difficult time with starting a new business in the middle of a recession ......so a lot of anxiety and money worries. Nothing on the romance side either - so I've had better summers.

However, I've just been thinking ...... I've had a bloody good week. And I'm grateful for that.

It went like this:

Saturday ....... went to Exeter. Crap result but I still enjoyed my day. Beers and a good crowd of people (cheers, Dave Mehmet!). Great to meet and catch up with other Lifers at the ground.

Sunday ........Sunny afternoon so went down the beach. We've got a good wild coastline and empty sands.
Evening, went round friends to watch a film (about 7 of us). We did too many bottles of red wine for a school night. Hay-ho.

Monday...... Football. played Old Gits v Youngsters (18-25 year olds). There's some talented youngsters and they've got quick feet, but we beat them after being 2 goals down. All back to pub after for a few bevies.

Tuesday ......Open Mic night at the Random Arms. Some good pro musicians, but this young bird turned up with a little box harp. Had everyone spellbound. Something really different.

Wednesday ..... Sunny evening so slaughtered the garden. Nothing more satisfying than a decent bonfire!

Thursday...... Invited to a Preview at Art Exhibition in Plymouth. Knew many of the artists and great night, well lubricated with copious supply of free red wine.

Friday ...... Went with a bunch of friends to a 'Last Night at the Proms' concert in an amphitheatre on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Didn't think it was my sort of thing so nearly never went ....but brilliant! Loony English eccentricity at it's best, loads of hooters and whistles, flag-wagging, everyone joining in with Land of Hope & Glory, Rule Britannia, Jerusalem, dancing in the aisles and silliness. Must go again next year!

And this affternoon I was asked if I wanted to do a job for 3 weeks working with young people - in France!
Plane and transport sorted for me, leave at 8:30 am in the morning. Marseille here I come!

What about you lot.......?

    Good to meet you both!
  • Nothing at all, slept mostly
  • Monday go karting. Great fun
Tuesday was my birthday so watched England game and chilled
    Wed nothing
Thursday 27 holes of golf with my father
Friday day off work spent at home relaxing
Today football followed by Crayford dogs
    Sunday out for lunch

Pretty manic week and I've loved it
  • Spent most of the week, doing DIY, during the day, putting in a new window and doing some flooring.

Overdid it a bit as I had to have a quaterzone injection in my arm, (yesterday) so was on the web trying to get some work, without really any success!.

Hoping to get my sons to do some plastering, and screeding to finsh of the building work, tommorow.

Taking the dog for a walk everyday, and listerning to lots of music.

First week I have not done any photography since March!

Working on my art college re-union for next year!
Looking forward to the game today!, and taking some photographs of Woolwich next week!
  • Ran around all week chasing my tail producing some meaningless figures that no one will probably ever look at or truely understand.
  • Miserable end to the week, had to attend a meeting yesterday morning in which 6 members of staff were given two weeks notice. Total doom and gloom working for a local authority at the moment, everyone extremely worried about the government cutbacks due to be announced on 20th October.
  • Split up with the mrs on Sunday so shitty week for me.
  • Spent all week in Montenegro on holiday so had worse weeks.

Shouldn't you be slowing down at your age Oggie? Anyway, one day is much the same as another at chez March. Been at home 3 months now and eyes still not good enough for driving. Bang into trees when mowing, and you'll remember my problems with bonfires! Am now an expert on daytime TV, unfortunately but when Mrs.M was out the other day I managed to put the old train set together on the dining room table: hopefully it'll be there for a while. Good luck with the job, is it likely to lead to a career change in the future? Oh yes, got carted down to Brighton on Tuesday to see the firm's quack, I think they're getting fed up with paying me! Nice day out though and didn't fall off the pier.

I take it these were temporary staff? Not that makes it any better, 2 weeks notice!

In local govt myself, work is a total mare my team are 6 down at present and myself and my boss are having to carry the vacancies to try and protect the rest of the teams jobs.

Which authority are you Al? Seems early to be starting hack and slash.
