This will be my first trip to Charlton, looking forward to it and confident we can win, now we have Lee Hughes back from injury. Should expect 850 to make the trip from Nottingham!
Well, all Notts fans agree what he done was wrong and that will be with him for the rest of his life. Notts fans like him because he is a very good footballer and he scores goals (33 last season) I can't answer your last question as Notts fans give stick to any striker that can't score. Like Ben Burgess is the boo boy ATM. Weather you like it or not, he done his time, was let out early, and he has a right to work again. If a plumber done the same as Hughes, would you boo him in your kitchen if he was fixing your sink or something?
Tip is though, DON'T boo him, because that will just fire him up and will most probs score past you.
[cite]Posted By: Floyd Montana[/cite]Were you there for your Anglo Italian final win in 95?
How we never won it that year defies belief with the squad we had
I would have been 4, so no! But I have watched videos from our win in the cup.
thats ok then. Mind you i wonder if it was your kid, mum, son, daughter, wife or other relative if you would be so "his done his time" bollox about it. As for knocking on my door as a plumber love that to happen and i hope he would have flame proof overalls.
After your 4-0 thrashing over Yeovil it's obvious that your going to be confident going into any game. However, without a win for 3 games in the league we desperately need to get back to winning ways and there is no better way to do it next saturday at The Valley. I'm expecting a very open game as both teams will be looking for the win and hopefully we see some good football from both teams. Far to early to predict a result yet as players could get injuries and knocks during the week of training.
With a debatable inconsistent Notts County and Charlton needing to win the game to not full behind the promotion pack early on, not to mention that we dont want to get into a habbit of not winning. I still fancy Charlton next saturday to get the result and win it by a couple of goals. Whether that will happen or not could all depend on our captain and main defender Christain Dailly being fit after a cracked eye socket in the JPT game against Dagenham & Redbridge last week. If Dailly is fit I could see Charlton keeping our first clean sheet in the league since the opening day victory over Bournemouth. On the other hand, if he is still out it could be a different game with the likely defensive partnership of Doherty and Llera.
Anyway, looking forward to next saturday now. Good luck with the rest of the season expect for when you play against Charlton. :-)
BTW, I booed the milkman yesterday cause he forgot to leave the pint of semi skimmed ;-)

no I wouldn't boo him because the scumbag would never have got as far as my kitchen in the first place. The difference is you would never know if a potential tradesman had committed a heinous crime. You knew Hughes had. End of. If he'd have turned up at The Valley my season ticket would have gone right back. However, I know that our Chairman is a decent, family man and would never have counternanced his signing. I'm going to boo the scumbag at every available opportunity on Saturday.

Whilst i agree with many peoples thoughts on Hughes (although i wouldn't have sent my ST back), do you not think booing him is a waste of time? 57 goals in 98 games since coming out of prison tells you that booing him doesn't bother him in the slightest.
I think he's going to score against us regardless if we boo him or not. He's one of the best strikers in this division and the only reason he isn't in the championship is because clubs there have more pride than Notts cheating County.

Apart from Coventry who are about to sign Marlon King.

He's served his time and repaid his debt to society, he's just as entitled to work as any other ex-con! Surely the blame has to lie with those who employ him, if anyone deserves a good boo it's the county board!

Great post!
Fully agree.
I reckon the boys will be so up for Saturday that Hughes wont get a touch anyway!

That is good news.
Will he be driving down?
Before people start to slag off hughes on here and it will happen.
What's your view on the rights and wrongs of signing him at county
Or did you not care. If he hadn't scored goals would you have felt the same

Last time he came to us we booed ... he scored.
Old skool.
Been there, done that. He scored against us on loan for Blackpool a couple of years back.
One thing you can't knock Hughes for is goalscoring, his record over the years is brilliant.
