A great servant of the club.

  • I think I just went through that list and Le Tissier wasn't on it which is a fairly significant omission... unless I missed him somehow
  • Le Tissier is in at No.6, 540 games and 162 games.

I was thinking about Sam Bartram - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Bartram - but it suggests that he played as well for Bolden Villa, not quite sure who they are.
  • Sam should be in there too. Peewee also played for an American club and I bet some of the others have played non-league.

Boldon Villa were the Tyneside we signed him from.

When Peacock came on as sub, did he actually play in goal or was there a switch around on the pitch? Anyone there at the match? What was it like? Did you know at the time it was a first - I guess live communications have moved on apace since then?
  • Would have been nice if they had spelt Charlton right.

John Hewie took over in goal, KP presumably went wide left. I wasn't there, but my boss at work was, in his capacity as a Bolton fan it has to be said. We got our normal Burnden thrashing, 4-2 I think.
  • How do they work this out does anyone know? Its clearly not on appearances and surely cant be on ability seeing that Nevile is about 5 places ahead of Brooking.

I was there when he came on as sub. I was on the east terrace.

Think that game may have been too late for John Hewie.

I remember seeing Brian Kinsey take over in goal. Can't remember if this was the game.

Interesting song on the train to Portsmouth with the team for a game - 'who wears turn-ups on his underpants, Peacock, Peacock!'

Top appearances in this list is Jimmy Dickinson, goal keeper from Portsmouth - 828 appearances.

Ryan Giggs is not that far behind at 807 and is still playing.

Millwall's top is Barry Kitchener, 602 appearances, who looks in some pain in the picture below.

  • Thanks Big William & Crusty54. Turn Ups on his underpants, what's that about?

I think the list is in reverse order, either that or perhaps he scored extra points for breaking with family tradition and fighting the pull of Bury FC to be a part of Man U.
  • Stig

    Just being heightist!

He's probably shorter than Chris Solly.

This article is a year old, Giggs has gone past the record already.

What is amazing though is it says about Dickinson - "during his 845 club and 48 international appearances, he was never once booked or sent off".
  • What's really amazing about Dickson is that he looks like Morrissey wearing the dirty pullover of a submarine captain.
  • I don't think there would have been much of a view of Keith Peacock's debut from the East Terrace - the match was at Bolton.

The answer was about when he came on as the first Sub!
  • Which was at Bolton.
  • Sorry, haven't help by putting debut into the equation - that was at Sunderland - but the point was you couldn't have seen his first sub outing at The Valley because it happened at Burnden Park.

Airman, you obviously never stood right at the top of the East Terrace - the view was unbeatable :-)

On a clear day you could see all the way to Bolton ;-)
  • Surprised that Steve Bull (Wolves) wasn't on that list, he really was a one club man.

  • And what about Jimmy Armfield at Blackpool...........
