The bbc radio commentator, was emphatic that it was not a penalty, and then began to change his mind, and started to blame the 'pillar' that may have effected his judgement.....
The sky commentator did not even comment on the fact that it could have been a poor decision, and blamed Liera......
So I am no wiser! at least from the radio coverage.
The BBC reporter, seemed to disolve his opinion from an absolute nailed on penalty, to probably.....
The sky commentator as I said thought it was one......
No wonder you get a distorted view of a match, especially if you realy on the radio!
Just see the pen on cafc tv highlights. Not 100% sure if it was a pen or not. Hard to tell. All i have to say is what the f**k is llera playing at. The bloke is absolute shyte. Cureton is going away from goal. By the time he would have retrieved the ball we would have had a few defenders midfield back to defend it & llera dives in the way he did. Nob. Then he gets up & just waves his finger. If his so shore its not a pen he would be screaming in the refs face like elliot was. Also looked like parky called the ref 'a f**king w*nker mate' at the end
My first reaction at the match was that Cureton was already going to ground before Llera went diving in.
Cureton is 35, and knows how to play for a penalty. It's what forwards do.
I've watched the incident several times on the match footage - and I'm still not convinced Llera actually made contact.
But it was a stupid, rash thing to attempt to go to ground in that situation. He only needed to stay on his feet and keep a physical presence; Llera and his panic button. *sigh*
From the ref's perspective, he would have seen Cureton running away from goal chasing the loose ball, and Llera launch into a desperate lunge from behind. Once Cureton tumbled, from his position the ref is only going to make one instinctive decision, rightly or wrongly.
Agree with Oggy....Silly challenge from Llera played right into Cureton's hands.
No point in pointing the finger at anyone anymore, we've done enough of that over the past 4/5 years! We're not going to win every game so let's just concentrate on the next game.
