Maybe many people voted LibDem to keep Labour out?
Yea, Liberals and Tories - perfect bedfellows! They probably voted LibDem because they liked their policies - let's look at it in a positive light.

I just hope whoever wins can rebuild Labour as a Party that speaks up for the vulnerable in society. Richard j quote.
I just hope the shower of shite never see Downing Street again.
In Blairs autobiography he apparently says he knew Brown would be disaster (I don't know the exact wording) but had to keep quite 'for the unity of the party'. Now to me this says' f**k the country my only concern is the party'. We will be paying the price of 15 years of Labour for generations to come. How anyone can vote Labour after all this God only knows.
Well, there you go. Global economic meltdown laid firmly at the door of the UK Labour party! Oh the power!!
It certainly isn't the place for politics saga lout, always starts a ruck.
Anyway, no one blames labour for econmic meltdown, just the state they have left the country in, again. Very easy to spend and give benefits away, but harder to return to fiscal balance (prudence! remember that word) when the economy goes tits and realism needs to correct past mistakes. Same thing happened in the 70s and will probably happen again when the next generation forgets the past.
Ed Balls really should have changed his name if he wanted to go into politics. I think one of the Millipedes will win, probably David although Ed has the backing of some of the big unions.
Sidcup Tel never mentioned Labour being responsible for the global economic meltdown, but don't let that get in the way of avoiding the perfectly valid point that he made, Saga.
I agree with him. I partied in the street in 1997..........now I never want to see another Labour PM. They put their own selfish interests and pecadillos over the needs of the country and for that they can take a running jump. Whoever they claimed to represent in the past, they only ever represented themselves and they are now irrelevant, and thank fook for that.

I think that could be covered to all the politicians bigstemarra......... I guess tonight on TV Blair is going to try and justify the war, and tell us for the good of the country etc...Of course world events are largely beyond most goverment's control, the question is how do they deal with them! ...... or not!
I think you will find that Blair could stretch the truth...... for the sake of the party\ country, perhaps it that ability that people find the most condeming!
Apparently, his relationship with `Brown was even worse than reported....... and they semed to have a liason of mutual loathing binding them together.
His dependency on drink is one that will be expossed, although described not as serious.......

He said 'We will be paying the price of 15 years of Labour for generations to come.'
Coincidentally enough, we'll be paying off the partly-global-recession-caused deficit for generations to come. You can see exactly why Saga thought he was conflating Labour with all economic woes.
Facts about Labour - Before the credit crunch, the deficit was 3/4s of what was inherited from the Conservatives. Would the Conservatives avoided the credit crunch - would they heck. The management of the economy post crunch has been hailed by the US as being inspirational. Darling did a fantastic job and many believe prevented a total disaster. This country was always going to suffer more than others because our economy is so reliiant on the financial services sector - Germany has recovered better/faster because it has a bigger manufacturing base which has ben subsidised by the government as has France. Our manufacturing was killed off by the conservatives.
Still, labour was holding the ball when it all caved in so why not blame them.
Ed Balls for me btw but party will go for David Milliband as the slick seem to attract our fickle electorate more than those with real substance.
Muttley Whoever feeds you your economics information needs help. The reason why we rely on the financial services sector?
Why didnt the labour party subsidise industry like common sense countrries you mention? All industry killed off by the conservative? - oh please So Labour wouldnt have closed down the loss making mines? Why not re open them in the many long years of PFI projects and self interest
David Milliband will win but its not really relevant because Labour need 5-10 years out of power before they can come back into government.
The truth is that the next Labour PM is probably not even in Parliament at the moment.
The other truth is that as much as Blair is despised by 80% of Labour people at the moment he will become a hero again once the party has been out of power for a long while and remembers his days as PM as the good old days.
Its unpredictable though, once these big public spending cuts take place then the electorate could get very, very volatile and let's be honest if Cameron could not get a parliamentary majority last time - after 13 years of Labour rule and in the middle of a huge recession - then will the Tories ever win one again.
People talk all this crap about Labour never being in power again but the facts are that they still have 252 seats - they are within striking distance already if things go bad for the Coalition.
Muttley, you talk some rubbish. As with the other points made on this thread about your poor grasp of economicsn you are wrong in other areas too. The uk does not have a smaller manufacturing base than france, it is slightly larger and is doing pretty well at the monent too. The facts are labour took over a very healthy economy and private pension scheme and ruined both. We will all be paying for their mistakes for years to come. Granted that they could not have avoided completely the global credit meltdown, but their actions, or inactions around banks profligate lending added to this crisis. Darling handled it pretty well. But the biggest mistakes are the increase in the size of the public sector to unsustainable levels, through a mix of added bureaucracy and new laws on hiring/firing staff which will make our labour force less flexible in future. Thank god they are now gone and we can start to repair the mess they left behind.

Yet under Labour manufacturing, as part of GDP, has decreased more than under the Tories. Just as selling off our bullion cost the country more than Black Wed did.
Its not about who was "holding the ball" its about what position we were in when "it all caved in" and who had lead us there.
Its like trying to blame your boss for the £30k of debt you have built up when employed when he has to make you redundant due to cutbacks.
Its not his fault you were stupid when the times were good and you had money coming in.

Anyway only people from Barnsley, Sunderland and Ilford vote labour so who gives a shit :)
Does it make a difference?
Orwell was right :-(

How about "Ed Twat"?
Better still, just have a clitoris sewn to his forehead so you know he's a c*** before he opens his mouth.

None seem to have any charisma or oratory skills.
Too many want to lurch further to the left to convince the "core" support but seem to forget that the middle ground is where elections are won.
