I thought he was good last night but at a higher level his headers would cause us a problem. But then again with a brand new team we are far ahead of my expectations, just wait for them to really gel
[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]no, really didn't think he did that well. Missed the cross for the goal and made a number of other mistakes/miskicks.
IMO Doc was just a little unlucky last night.
Sure he would have expected to cut out the cross - but he was undone by a wicked little bounce half a yard in front of him, which caused the ball to lift just over his outstretched leg. Watch the replay again and see what I mean.
Two other points on the goal:
1) My recall is Doc came sliding in on the edge of the 6 yard box - isn't that the goalkeeper''s territory?
Surely Elliot should be calling and commanding his box better than that?
2) McGleish was totally unmarked at the far post. Who was his marker or should have been tracking back?
For what it's worth, the first time I've seen Doc in a Charlton shirt, I thought he put in a brave and impressive performance last night.
Agree Oggy about Robbie not commanding his box well enough for the goal and tbh in general IMHO. Thought his kicking has been appalling and although certainly brave I am really not sure he is any better than average even in div 1. Prove me wrong please Rob.

Robbie is a very good shot stopper, Shooters .... but the mental side of his game, decision making, knowing when to come off his line and when to stay, communicating with his defence - all need some coaching on.
I'm generally a fan of Robbie's and I want him to do really well - but there's hesitancy in his game at the moment.
That goal was never robbies fault....... although he has an amazing knack of being easily beaten from close(and long) range , millwall at home springs to mind ...
Racons sloppy pass was the start of it
I always bow to the opinion of those at the ground and have a built-in detestation of armchair critics (at least, if they're being negative).
But I can confirm that watching on TV, Doc appeared to put in an immense performance. However, I'm perfectly prepared to believe that was a deceptive impression and his game may have been error-strewn off-camera. That's why I don't post player ratings if I wasn't there and only saw the game on Sky...

I saw that! ref looked so confused when he looked down
Ref was getting excited. He's on telly and it's his big moment to send off a player in front of a worldwide audience (well those that weren't watching 80s music videos on the other pub TV).
Be interesting to see how our defence holds up against Oldham this Saturday.
I think the two league games we have played well in defence, despite going down to 10 men.
Solid, and experienced players who controlled most of the Orient attack's , be good to see how they cope against a team with 2 league wins under there belt!.
The addition of Solly, could/should add vital pace especially in the later stages of a game as shown at Orient.

If you watch the footage, Abbott goes over and points out that he's shown 2 reds......really funny

Racon gave the ball away
doc missed an easy clearence
Francis failed to cover his CB
I thought doc was very impressive last night.
I can confirm Henry Irving was seen drinking alcohol pre match & therefore his judgement may have been impaired. (I of course was not :-)

He messed up on the goal for sure... it was a great ball behindand he looked like he was aware of scoring an own goal...
Very pleased with him myself...
Deliberate handball then a knee hiigh challenge
He definately deserved the 2 yellows.. the handball could have been a potential red if the letter of the law was applied...
No appeal for this one...
He's mentioning it in every thread now...
