who did we sell to Birmingham

Just read the article in The Standard with one of the West Ham blokes (Gold or Sullivan can't remember which)...he was saying when he was at Birmingham Mcleish really wanted a player from Charlton but he wasn't keen. Said he gave in to Sullivan but it really did not work out and big mistake...who was that then? Did we sell them Marcus Bent...? Can't remember now...

  • Think it probably was Bent, and hasn't he set the world alight since then. Must have played at least three games for them, but then he gets paid so I'm sure he doesn't care - it's never bothered the loathsome waste of space before.
  • Marcus Bent it was ....... remember we couldn't believe it when Brum actually paid about £1mill to take him off our hands,
after he'd spent a year on loan at Wigan.

Curbs spent £2.5mill buying Marcus Bunt - not one of Curb's finest judgements.
    C'est la vie.

Bought in a January window to cover for a longterm injured Bartlett as 4-5-1 had been working well and options were limited.

Prices are always inflated in January as purchases are invariably made in desperation.
  • Ah, the days of the Bent Brothers, Len.

We also paid a similar £2.5million for Darren Ashley Bent, the previous summer.
Now there's an instance where Curbs got it right, and supremely so.

Marcus Bunt, the striker who could only score in a hotel room.
