I'm bringing my 5 year old nephew to his first Charlton game v Oldham and just wondered where best to sit. Was going to book NSJ but heard it's a bit lively up there. Want him to experience a decent atmosphere though with some singing and chanting. is it a bad idea to sit in this part of the ground? His dad and grandad will also be with us

So why are you bringing him to the Valley then? ;-)
North upper would be best for atmosphere but be aware of some colourful language.
We sit towards the front of north upper block H and it's not too bad there.
North east quadrant.
In for a penny!
Match 1 was 3/4 of the way up NWD. Good view.
Match 2 (Oldham), I'm thinking about Upper North.
I may have to change my user name....!
You've picked the worst possible place for a five year old. Hope he's used to extreme language.
Is it hard to get moved once you've paid for the tickets?
There's no Gestapo to force you to sit in the seats you've bought.
If your group are uncomfortable where you're sitting, there will no doubt be spare seats in the North Upper towards the quadrants - so you can just up sticks and move.
As i said on another thread, I like the North West as you dont have to listent to too much bollocks but can enjoy the north upper atmosphere and its good for kids.
What an odd place to pick.
I'm usually towards the back of North Upper H, but if I was bringing a nephew, I'd probably go to the North West.
Good atmosphere where we sat but as people warned, not right for a 5 year old.
A woman was using really bad language during the game and as we left the ground my nephew said to me...'why was that woman always shouting can't....?'
Difficult to explain that one

In the future do what I do and buy for the North Upper and just move through to the family enclosure in the North East quandrant. You can still enjoy the atmosphere without having to put up with some of the numbskulls that frequent the North Upper
