A friend of mine has just started doing some work for Shoot magazine as a "Charlton blogger" (despite being a West Ham fan!) and has just had his first article published online for them. Let me know what you think...
My seven year old son bought shoot and i was appalled at how bad the magazine was. Not a mention of anyone outside the Premier let alone Charlton. It seemed too Childish even for a seven year old.
[cite]Posted By: Friend Or Defoe[/cite]I preferred match magazine as a kid.
Me too. I used to get match magazine and my brother got shoot. Always remember the little paper kits so you could keep your own table on a big wall chart
Shoot! stopped going weekly years ago and then went monthly and to be fair was pretty decent, then it went really babyish and weekly and ultimately folded. I have loads of old early 70's Shoot's in brilliant condition and loads Charles Buchan's Football Monthly's from the 1950's including the very first one from 1951.
Shoot! and Football Monthly were written in a far more mature and quality way than the crap that passes for Football magazines now and that is not just the rose tinted's speaking. Get a copy of Match from 1980 and one from now and tell me that the standards are not dumbed down in 2010. Four Four Two is as good as it gets nowadays.
Nice article in the online Shoot!
