Let's be honest - Dailly should have been Captain last year.
I saw a lot of disagreement between Dailly and Bailey last year about Bailey calling everyone back to sit back too much. Hopefully Dailly will have that better organised this year now he is the Captain.
Dailly will be a much better Captain than Bailey: A captain who is well organised, doesn't give the ball away cheaply, doesn't play act either and has the respect of everyone at the club, including the opposition.
The obvious but best choice. I don't think the captaincy got the best out of Bailey, he probably tried too hard at times while I can't see it effecting Dailly that way.
Its about time we had a proper skipper instead of the armband being given to the percieved best player as an inducement to keep them at the club for a further year. Kinsella the last I believe.

Whilst I am pleased with the choice I don't like this tendency to blame ex players for everything. Last season was not Baileys fault. Everyone was pleased when he was announced captain last year and if he was still here we would be happy with him being captain again.
I notice it a lot with Pardew, everyone claims it was a bad decision by the board to appoint him and conveniently forgets the vast majority of the fans were calling for it at the

I don't think you speak for everyone actually and I know a lot of fans who didn't think he would be any good as Captain. Personally, I wasn't glad Bailey was made Captain last season at all:
In Bailey's case, the ability to score goals from midfield doesn't qualify a good captain. His organisation of the midfield area last season, as the Captain, was truly awful given that was supposed to be our strongest player area. His constant misplacing of passes and giving away possession, to me, outweighed any good he did. I'm not blaming him for the whole season, and the penalty miss doesn't even come into it (that's life), but when the chips are down the Captain needs to be the leader / the example. And he wasn't.
Bailey's shameful play acting and rollocking fellow players was totally unprofessional and showed he was not ready for Captain. I'd be very surprised to hear he was Captain at another club in the near future.
So not my first choice as Captain at all, mine was Sir Christian of Dailly, and I've gotten my wish this time around - hoo har.

Who was a massive improvement on Hudson!
Good choice, but not many other candidates really.
