Difficult to call due to the in's and outs since May, but I think we have just enough to start with a win so its 2-1 for me. I'll be listening on CAFC player as I cant get down to Valley at the moment. Line up will be interesting......cant wait for Saturday and those (hopefully) vital first 3 points.
Hope all of you going enjoy a great day out.
Would like to see that, might be a lack of goals in the team but both Waggy and Reid could contribute. Think Parkinson will go with both Sodje and Abbot upfront though with Jackson at LB. I voted draw but I'm a pessimist so ignore me, we really should win this.
By all accounts the performance at Watford was really good. However Bournemouth are going to make it very tough indeed. If we don't score some time in the first 20 minutes I expect us to lose, and only two goals will get us anything, where will two goals come from?
However, a bright and confident start to the game from us and Bournemouth may feel that they have moved up a league, it's tough, and be satisfied with a draw or a non-humiliating defeat.
If we think we 'ought' or 'deserve' points against Bournemouth we're wrong. Wycombe were a pretty crap team last season, but still gave us enough trouble in the opening game.
If Akpo re-creates the kind of performance we got from him in the second half last boxing day (!) we will win convincingly.
Bournemouth play a nice attractive game and deserve their 1-1. We're positive, energetic, and promising but don't quite have the fluency while everyone beds in and could still do with more actual goal threat despite Akpo's equaliser from the bench. We'll gradually come good over the season though as we develop a formula and the necessary understanding to finish strongly. Be patient everyone!
After the past months wheelings and dealings this is a game that couldn't come round quick enough in the end after what was pretty much a miserable summer after the play offs and world cup.
I don't expect Charlton to play like the finished article as there are far too many new recent recruits for that but what I do expect is to see 11 players trying to play as a team. I think with the sale of Sam behind us and the players who have some in I expect us to look pacey and direct in wide areas, pass the ball well and not give Bournemouth a chance to settle into the match.
With Championship experience at the heart of the defence and in attack and with Semedo and Racon in the midfield there is quality throughout the spine of the team, I now believe on paper we have the best starting X1 in League 1 bar no one.

Abbot to start on the bench with the option to put Martin out wide to replace Wagstaff if necessary. Mambo to get a chance after impressing pre season with Francis maybe not 100% on the bench.

We are not ready and they will be up for it. A draw if we are lucky.
Hope I'm wrong and we stuff them!
2 for Pawel, Reid and Waggy.
