[cite]Posted By: Mortimerician[/cite]Parky had more than half a season and managed to take us much lower than when he took over.
Our best player was signed by Pardew.
I'm not saying things wouldn't have been different, but I doubt it, I think the main thing would be that the deficit would have been less. Anyone saying differently isn't looking at the probability evidence.
But he did inherit someone elses squad and one with out most of it's best midfielders thanks to injury. Had he been in charge in May, he'd have been able to start restructuring the sqaud to suit his ethos. You could argue a better manager should be able to adapt to suit the squad he's given, and that may be true, but taht doesn't mean it would have been beyond Parky to do better if he had more control over exactly who he was going to be managing. There was certainly more fight and organisation in the team once he'd been able to make a couple of signings and had got a couple of injured players back. It was just far too little far too late, but I think the terrible run that happened before would have happened to a lot of managers - I certainly think Pardew would have done little better if he hadn't been sacked.
Maybe Parky would have made an even bigger balls up of it, his record at Hull in the Championship was patchy at best, although he did still seem to work the transfer market reasonably well. I don't think Parky would have signed Bouazza and probably would have kept Iwelumo for example. He may well still have signed Bailey too, if he was a player known to the club thanks to our scouts rather than Pardew or his contacts.
I think the real damage was done the season before though too much money wasted and our one star man sold (Reidy). We were always heading downwards, it was just a case of how far and we'll never know if a better man might have kept us up.
[cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]give what up dazzler ... when people have slights at curbs i will defend his honour , the king is dead long live the king !
that's fair I guess but you don't need to keep the long live curbs thing going! He has gone and will never be forgotten! )

[cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]You're living in the past, Oohaah.
as is this thread tbf! I have to say though I never wanted Curbs to go and I am pissed off still but Jesus oohah give it up!
Haha, maybe, Dazzler.
But I meant it just to paint a possible scenario in a different dimension ......just "a what if".
And see what other people reckon may have happened; could it have possibly had a different result? .....rather than just regurgitating the past ad infinitum.
But anyway, all speculation, of course. That was all it was meant to be.
this is true! I guess if Pardew had Been sacked we may well have done better with parky but in my honest opinion the lack of funds would have crushed us still!
