[cite]Posted By: Richard J[/cite]How's this for a team ?
Royce
Barness Sankofa Jamie Stuart Powell
Campbell-Ryce Bailey Jones Otto
Firmani Nelson
Pretty appalling at the back if I'm honest, Sankofa and Jamie Stuart at centre half!!! Even Chris Powell at LB wouldn't be able to mitigate for that. Centre-mid and forward line - decent.
What appears to be the case that on the whole we did much better getting them in from Southend that vice versa. For the oldies.....can someone remind me why Firmani went to Southend. Did he fall out with Bob Stokoe? His record at Southend was still hot 24 goals from 55; previous with us 32 from 55.
[cite]Posted By: Scoham[/cite]Then went to Gillingham last season, where Royce, McCammon, Yussuff, Barry Fuller and later on Dickson on loan were.
Jills is not just a scrapyard of Southend players with recent Charlton connections. Remember when Keith Peacock was manager, and Paddy Powell, Ritchie Bowman, Peter Hunt ...... and of course Killer ended up at Jills?
I expect Jon Fortune will spend the last season of his career there.
Couple of our players who came through the ranks were loaned to Gillingham - keeper Lee Harrison made a 2 appearances, while JLloyd Samuel played 8 League games in 2001-2.
Midfielder George Shipley, part of our 1985-86 promotion team and 86-87 top flight Division One side under Lennie, spent 2 years at the Priesthood or whatever they call it.
Keeper Derek Bellotti played for both clubs in the seventies. Remember his jingle we used to sing based on a pop record of the time: "Bellotti's not Bonnetti, we can tell, tell, tell......!" Peter Bonnetti (or the Cat) was the Chelsea and England keeper of the time, infamous for his England performance in the Mexico 1970 World Cup quarter Finals against West Germany - England were 2-0 up and conceded 3 goals in the last 15 minutes.
And back way beyond even my Dad's first match at The Valley, Charlton frontman George Tadman had a season at Gillingham.
There's bound to be others we've overlooked or before our time.
[cite]Posted By: cafcdan18[/cite]Recent times Randolph and Josh Wright have been loaned to Gills whilst they obviously have a few of our other youngsters.

Then there was Derek Woodley, a right winger who didn't really establish himself as a regular at Charlton, transferred to Southend in 1967.

No place for Peter Hunt in the squad?
That notional Jills team would have to be managed by Keith Peacock, of course.
