Charlton Atheltic Season 2010/11

edited July 2010 in General Charlton
New kit, some very interesting additions and slowly the team that got us relegated moves on.....

The grit and fight that Parky is trying to install seems a good move to me. And as stated earlier this is more and more Parkys team.

There is a charlton way of doing things going on this season, even the strip is terrific...(shame im skint or else Ill get that shipped over )

So overall very positive....

I think we are in with a chance, and the fact that we are always reducing the wage bill is great, we are slowly becoming proper league one, which is what we have to be for this to be sustainable, and it is the character of the team and the players that will get us up...

Good days ahead I feel, anyone else feeling good??

I'Not really, i'd rather us have gone up with our championship team instead of building a league one team, we're losing our best players and the replacements are decent enough but not as good, we lack goalscoers and creativity but we do have a bit more metal about us, no money to spend and every player has a price tag. It'll be harder than last season, that's for sure.
  • Well Im feeling good, championship can wait, its not ready foru us, well do league one first...

this is an honest det of pros.. well do well.. and considering weve sold everyone of any value, and cut the wage bill a good mid table finish will do me, maybe sneak into the playoffs..
  • I can't see us getting anywhere if the team has to be re-built every year and on an ever-decreasing budget. If the League 1 side that is now being created gets us up to the Championship (unlikely), another re-build will be needed if we are to stand a chance of staying there. Not getting promoted last season has put us back years.

If the club had a board with some money left to spend a long-term plan could be put into place. Instead, all we get are short-term one-year plans. Last year's was "put a bit of money in and get promoted" (that didn't work then!). I suspect the plan this year is "stay in business and pray for a miracle".
  • as stated elsewhere if we have a more balanced team than last year with less obvious talent then we could go up, what we are missing and lets face it have since the Premiership is someone who can do that little bit extra up front, now whether we can get that player or not on a freebie I don't know, biut if we can then I think a lot of fans could be pleasantly surprised, although many will still moan. Play off place is my bet
  • Id like us to spend the next few years sorting the finances even if it means we play in this shite league, whilst bringing through young and hungry players and a new manager at some point to start an ascent in the next 5 years.

Hopefully club will be stable by then and the board (whoever it is) will have learned by previous mistakes.

Not going to be a glamourous few seasons but we are in it for the long haul and we'd support arsenal or chelsea if we were in it for the glory.
