At 2:44 in this clip Gunnar scored for Hannover in a friendly against Real Madrid in 2007. Real had a full strength team in this friendly: Casillas, Canavaro, Ramos, Diarra, Higuain, Pepe, Raul, Cicinho and others. Hannover won this game 3-0 and big things were expected of Gunnar but he then injured him self and only managed to play handful of games for Hannover and was later sold to Norway and Denmark. He is now back to his best.

Hope Gunnar gets a contract with Charlton.
What can you tell us about him? Do you know him?
He is very similiar to Kevin Doyle at Wolves. Maybe too similiar as Steve Coppell once said and therefore didnt sign him. When he was the top goalscorer in Sweden Everton and many other clubs were interested in him: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11671_2350698,00.html
Welcome to Charlton Thor, hope Gunnar has a successful trial and does well here as we seem to be putting together a decent squad but really need a goalscorer.
The last Icelandic players we had here was Rurik Gislason, though he never played for our first team. I think he is with Odense now, and Herman Hreidersson, who was very popular.
Uncle bulgaria, orinoco, sam hamman, joe kinnear, the bloke from new tricks, dave basset, vinny jones, robbie earle... robbie earle can you hear me.... your boys took one hell of a beating, one hell of a beating..
Gunnars best season was in 2005 when he scored 25 goals in 38 games in all compititions for Halmstad. http://www.hbk.se/extra/link/?module_instance=1&action=link_show&id=12 He won the golden boot in the Swedish Premier League with 16 goals in 23 games (16 starts). Was ahead of Afonso Alves then at Malmö I think but later went to Holland. In that season, Halmstad managed to get to the group stages in Europe and he scored 3 goals in 6 games UEFA games, including scoring against Sporting Lisbon in both legs. He was then regarded as the best striker from Iceland (no kidding) bar Eidur Gudjohnsen. He put Iceland on track in a European qualifier against N-Ireland away in the autumn of 2006. Scoring the first goal in a 3-0 win in Belfast: The first goal in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hWjT7L-UJw
Had he not suffered injuries he would be playing at a high level.

THOR MAKES IT FOUR
(You can have that one Matt!)
Then again, i'm sure Stu and the anti-Parky crowd would prefer:
THAT'S WHY BUMS GO TO ICELAND
:-)
Be patient, Dizzle ....... we have to sell McLeod first!
And if the Dutch guy signs look forward to plenty of St Etienne song puns
Come on within
You've not seen nothing like the mighty
Ok. I'm still working on it.
If anyone gets a chance I can't recommend it highly enough.
PS - Welcome Thor - hope you are a relative, we like having relatives of players on here.
Gunnar will sign, and go on over the next few years to be the greatest goalscorer to every grace our magnificent stadium.
He will make such an impact, we will eventually go on to rename The Valley....THOR PARK
