'Charlton's partnership with one of the most famous football academies in Africa, Asec Mimosas, has enabled them to sign five players from Ivory Coast. '
Two of the five players Charlton have signed, 18-year-old striker Gohi Bi Cyriac and 19-year-old midfielder Deble Serge, were on display for the visitors and Serge opened the scoring with a stunning second-half strike.' .................Feb 2008
Your Views on the OS raised this and had asked what had happened. I'd quite like to know as well as the period for getting a European passport is now well beyond the expected 2 years. is this Peter Varney initiative now dead and buried?

Asec stitched us up with Gohi by selling him
Deal is dead
very sarcy oohaah.
i'll have you know that when we had the inter link up, at least 2 of our academy boys spent 2 weeks in milan learning italian and eating pasta 'as mama used to make'.
whilst 2 of inters young prospects were dodging knive weilding gangs in south-east london.
we also got inters blue and black striped kit.
Ended at least a year ago.
Serge Deble might still be contracted to us, probably the only one, but none of this is ever confirmed by Charlton. His loan club Angers in France recently said his loan has ended and he had returned to us. There were apparently rumours of him joining Dijon on loan, another French club.
mustard they are
Randolph came from an Irish club we linked up with, so is that proof these link ups do work ;-)
"I know what the fans are thinking, they're thinking that we've been here before with links with Internazionale and Valencia which never really came to anything," "But this is different".
Why say this is different, then? It's only different if something good for us, comes from it, surely.
Very good, Large. We must relish the prospect.
