ok so it look like the last charlton sell off is afoot.....

edited July 2010 in General Charlton
So we are finally selling off the last vestiges of quality to pervade the valley turf.....

Now as my Dad said and the directors before him , this was on the cards if we didnt get promotion and the truth be known we are likely to lose anyone of any quality whatsoever, if we thought losing parker was bad, of reid or murphy, or Dazza.. well we are now down to losing anyone that can do any sort of job at all, we may be left with three or four players that can cut it at top level leagueone......

But that is reality, that is where we are at... and the truth be known we are now in a position where any and all success relies solely on team spirit and unity of the club, our succes is now down to the spirit that is created by the manager...

We have seen what he has achieved before, in a very difficult situation at the start of last year whereby he managed to bring in some great loans that served the club very welll and we manged to get the best start on a season ever achieved...

this job is a poisoned chalice and no one will touch it.....

from interviews, I feel an affinity to Parkinson, and although this is going to be a very tough season i feel he might just get us in the play offs.......

but over all I am very much simply hoping we dont go down, so over the next few years we can get on a genuine league one budget and not be losing money every day...

If we can stabalise here for the next 4 or 5 yrs we might survive as a club...

I dont forsee anyone coming in for us..

its bleak, its dark.. but Im actually really looking forward to this season, you just never know......

  • Nicely put Mascot.

Unfortunately the boo boys just can't wait for an excuse to slag off our manager and certain players. We have to start by getting rid off that "toxic" atmosphere at the Valley. It's just not going to happen though is it?
  • No :-(
  • Dark days are ahead of us. I still think we are one of the best teams in League One but it ain't going to be easy getting out of this league!
  • If we show anywhere near the commitment we did in the last 8 games and repeat the atmoshere of the norwich leeds and dare say swindon home games the toxic element will be lifted, its been said a million times but we really need the valley to be a fortress this term

Les Randolph, Less Bailey, less Sam, Less Shelvey, Less Burton....not sure I agree with you !

that's only because the standard down here is so gash
  • I'm not sure I agree entirely

although with Bailey and Burton leaving, I wonder where the goals will come from.
  • Randolph only played the last 15 games or so, sam was only on fire first half of the season, shelvey hardly played, burton not gone yet but had health problems, bailey was good but hated his actions in a charlton shirt some times so no real loss to be honest.

i think from january they scored a combined effort of 5 league goals
  • We're now really one of the worst teams in League One. Dailly, Sodje, Sam, Burton, Basey and Wagstaff don't count as our players until they've signed new deals. Bailey has pretty much gone, Randolph and Shelvey have gone. Out of the loanees only Akpo is here.

We have no wingers, 3 senior strikers, 2 of which we don't want. One goalkeeper, left back and centre back.

We're a few new contracts and a several signings away from having a good League One squad.

  • I don't recall wanting any of our strikers. Let's hope there are some very good loans/freebies on offer

With our overheads cancelling out our above average crowds I would make us a mid table league one team, right?

so all we have is the glamour of the valley and London town

That's all we scored in total wasn't it?

    ;)

so where did any remainder come from?

    What about their assists too?
  • Sam hat 10 assists... would be well chuffed if Waggy could produce the same...if he ends up playing for us that is...

    Les Randolph

    Is he Darren's dad?
  • I don't know how anyone can predict where we will be in league one at the end of the season given that we don't know who our starting 11 will be. When the window closes, I will make predictions on our finish.

Fortresses are often more than a third full
  • not our fortress....... third is perfect and once word gets around that we are magic it will fill up.....

WERE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE< WERE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE!!!!!
