Lloyd Sam to Leeds, in todays local rag

edited July 2010 in General Charlton
Sorry if this has been mentioned but in todays local paper it has now been confirmed by his agent that talks have been held, as opposed to just rumours before hand.
I heard this guy is a bit lazy, probably would fit in with us if he is tbh and maybe not the ideal signing to push us into the playoff's next season although some Leeds fans seem to be having a wankfest over him.

good luck by the way next season. I was the ones on here last season wanting us both to go up. Pity we have to suffer Millwall again!!

    Sorry forgot to include link!!
  • Id be more excited to be after Gary Hooper if i was you mate....
  • Marmite player. Typical winger, blows hot and cold, but tended to draw a lot of markers so with a team set up to exploit the space that leaves he could be very effective. He's definitely got talent and pace, but frustrates with a lack of end product at times. Definitely not lazy though. Would be a great signing for any CCC side IMO.
  • In the words of the nursery rhyme:

when he is good he is very very good

but when he is bad he is horrid.

    Typical winger in other words.

Some on here slag him off unmercifully but in my view we will miss him. If you have strikers who can put it in the onion bag (unlike us!) he will give them a service.

I'd imagine he'd just be a squad player for you, which he'd be fine as. If you're looking at him to start regularly, he's probably not going to be consistent enough.

He doesn't score many goals but usually creates up a few chances, mainly from crosses. Not actually lightening quick like people assume he is (one of the opposition managers called him one of the quickest players in the league, he's not even our quickest player).

Opposition fans perhaps overrate him a bit, at the same time some ours underrate him.
  • Lloyd Sam can be compared to sex. When's he's good, he's good. But when's he's bad, he's better than nothing.

And he only turns it on about three times a year.
  • TMI Chicago!
  • you dont need fingers to count on your hand how many times sam has run the show. lovely smile though
  • He is Ebeneezer Goode:

You can see that he's mysterious,
    Mischievious and devious
Though very much maligned and misunderstood
But if you know Eezer he's a real crowd pleaser
He's ever so good, he's Ebeneezer Goode

Some might say he dribbles too much

As he circulates amongst the people in the place
But once you know he's fun
    And something of a genius
He gives a grin that grows around

Let a little Sam into your life!
  • im gonna miss that beaming smile mate.
  • We need fierce competitors like Lloyd Sam if we are going to get ourselves out of this mess.

    He will be missed.
  • As you can see from the reaction on here, Sam's quite clearly not good enough for us. But he's good enough for a championship side.
  • We've lost Sam and will replace him with Wagstaff and that worries me.

Even more worrying is who do we then replace Wagstaff with.

    NAWWWWWWTEEEE, NAWWWWWWTEEEE, VERY NAWWWWWWTEEEE
  • he tends to fade in the last 20 minutes of a game(apparently he has a lung condition); on the plus side, he can pull off wearing a cardigan.

    Got any salmon, SOOOORTED!
  • Spainboy - Seeing as you've got Snodgrass on your right wing, i'd say that Sam wouldn't even get into your team. But he'd be a decent squad player on a free signing.
  • Excellent control of the ball - better than any England player this summer (not that that is saying much), loads of ability. Can create chances but hopeless at taking them himself. If a manager/coach can teach him how to be more direct and more determined he could be a great player...if not he may well end up back at Charlton in a couple of years...

    typical winger???
how many 'typical wingers' return 7 goals in 7 years?

if i were you spainboy, i'd be trying to sort out gradels head.

Well Lloyd has his faults!. What player does not...... and he does fade, and his runs are at times 'frustrating', but the guy is gonna be a loss.

I do not get so wound up with players who try, it's the ones who appear not to that get's my frustration going!

Too me at the very least he was an option, and we do not have too many of those guys at present!.

Remind me from the squad left, who is going to create and get the goals!.......
  • One good month in all his time at the club. Player of the month.

The publicity went to his head.

If he plays he's keeping somebody out of the team who might get the ball into the penalty area or even to a player on our side.
