Now then guys, I've always had a soft spot for charlton a few years ago we seemed to always draw each other in the cup.
Anyway looks like we've signed this Bailey lad, now I don't know much about him but 25 goals in 2 years sounds impressive. I know that goal scoring ratios can be devieving but we were chacing this kid with Lord Southgate at the helm. And I'm sure GS2 has done him homework on Bailey. But is he really worth £1.5 possibley £2 million! We probably could get Darren annular for that, or pay Aliadiere the wages he deserves!
Hope you get back up to where you belong and hopefully well join you in the the promised land. Someday, maybe. (also what the hell is with applying for an account? Never seen that before on any forum! M :P)

In todays money he's worth £1m but there was other interest and if he gets you up, which is possible, you'll forget the fee.
Will fit in well imho.
Have you heard of Akpo Sodje, he'd fit in well too
(Last season).
I agree that he might be surplus to your requirements but we'll gladly take the money!
Can we have Robson?
Minuses: Not the most cultured player in the world, when he's a bit off form he tends to start trying too hard and loses some composure which leads to a lot of over ambitous passing/misplaced passing, he can be a bit ill disciplined positionally as he goes looking to try and force things when sometimes he just needs to be a bit more patient, has been known to make a bit of a meal of things (diving - sort of) and sometimes can be a bit argumentative with his teamates (although some people like that).
Overall he's an all action midfielder who will rarely fail to be well involed in matches but one who is maybe lacking a bit in technique to make it at the highest level. When he's playing well I'm pretty sure you'll be pleased to have him, but he might seem a bit below your current standards when he's off form although you're unlikely to doubt his commitment. You are paying a bit over the odds though imo.
He loves to exaggerate it when clipped in a tackle
Hard working and will grab goals though as already said
He's a hard working goalscoring midfielder, so although he puts the tackles in, he's not a ball winner. When he's sat deep forus for whatever reason, we've not got the best out of him. Same when he's tried those ambitious passes, if you have a creative midfielder, Bailey should hopefully keep it simple and just play his normal game.
He didn't actually stand out at League One level as much as we hoped, as captain probably tried a bit too hard at times. He proved himself at Championship level the season before though, just down to how he settles living up north and how Strachan uses him.
Ive been to a few Boro games at Ayresome including the last one v Luton.
Strachan needs to get em sorted away from home.
Our problem was that he had to be the main man because of the general inability of the rest. As others have implied above his all round game is not really good enough for that.
Play to his strengths though, ie an all action, attacking, goal scoring midfielder with someone else assuming responsibility for playmaking and defensive donkeywork, and you will have bought yourselves an excellent player. Despite his transfer record nobody can ever question his total commitment on the pitch.

Yupp know eston well. And yes Barry Robson fits the bill of most of these descriptions of Bailey.
minuses :- can't pass, not the best in build up play, can't pass, can occasionally lose possesion in key areas, can't pass, doesn't create enough for the front men and is more likely to shoot than try and pick someone out, can't pass. will get outplayed in central midfield, can't pass, will cost you a few goals as well as score his fair share (miss tackle or give the odd pen away), can't pass.
He'll never hide, even when he's having an absolute stinker.
He'll make you feel ashamed he's wearing your teams shirt when he rolls around on the floor hoping to 'win' a free kick.
He'll score some spectacular goals.
He'll cock it up in a dangerous position, leading to conceding a goal against the run of play.
In summary, he plays like he's a kid playing for fun in the park, who always wants to win and sometimes let's his cool evaporate.
Your fans will love him.
Just get ready for the many opposition fans who already despise him after being 'Baileyed' and gone down to 10 men due to his shenanigans.
That is all.
But bottled the playoff home leg!
What we're saying is buy one, get five free. Please...
However, Bailey gets plenty of chances for a midfielder, scores good aswell as important goals and will be a fans favourite.
Imho his best position is in the middle in a 5 man midfield, lacks the discipline at times that is needed in the middle in a 4- this was evident more in the Championship than L1 but to be fair this was in an awful cafc side in 2008/09.
