[cite]Posted By: BlackForestReds[/cite]but would our board sell to aeg ?

    If the money was right...

Whatever you might think about the mistakes the board have made in recent months they have never been in it for the money. It's Hypothetical in any case as no bid has, or is expected to be made, but I think you are being unfair to a group of Charlton supporters who have invested their own time and money in getting to where we are angry about being near the bottom of the top division. A position we would have loved to have been in 15 or 20 years ago.

Cheers Nine goals (if I can call you that).

Thanks for the insight and honesty. As in my work (I'm a business coach and trainer) I tell with people's motivations I find it fascinating what drives people to extreme behavior. I'd love to sit down and chat about it all some time.

Would just like to add ,if the 02 site is being regenerated to include a gambling casino why do we need a casino if you can gamble on line, if being an addict is an addiction then you would want to hide from a casino as gambling on line is more suitable. An addiction such as gambling is a private affair. The 02-dome site will become the next West End.

This is the same thinking as the original laws on bookies, which were only allowed to have see-through windows about a decade ago, to prevent punters from being seen. Instead, they had to hide behind 20-year-old photographs of greyhounds and yellowing snaps of Merseyside derbies when the players still had 'taches. (Indeed, punters at Coomes shops still do...)

Old betting shops were meant to be unattractive and not visable from outside to deter people from entering so now seats, drinks machines etc.

Every other Saturday off to the Valley with me dad but had to wait outside this mysterious "turf Accountants" in Abbey Wood Village, peaking a looking through the multi-coloured plastic strip curtain and smoke to see what my dad and the other men (and it was only men) were up to.

Just never got the betting bug although I did have JFh at 6/1 for first goal on Saturday.

Now that the fans have Reid all about the board's gambling addiction on inexperienced managers they need to get some therapy - fortune (ately) they've managed to try(ore) one more throw of the diawara - after all they're only Hermann. In Thatcher's day Dennis used to say "Thomas, you're a bit over the ZZ top mate! (H)ughes n(r)eed to Rommadahlalong now...Coz Son you've got no front (line) Nope give up! ..........

Seriously...Get AEG / Anschutz in with a 30% (i.e. large minority) stake to help set us up long term

On Casinos - in London they can only give you orange juice at the tables and it is a good idea to stick to this - I've won £500 in two hours and then burnt it after a session at the bar (watching the addicks beat blackburn away on Sky 3 years ago) On addiction - it's everywhere - especially netaddicks - lol - a major outburst of humanity and Charlton winning something is the only solution.... back to the bar :-)

Henry perhaps you could mention AEG in the next board meeting to see if the board could tap them up. Just incase the board doesnt know about them :-)

and could you report back would be interested in the boards view on this.

The board know who AEG are, believe me.

I can't report back on what is said in the board meetings unless it is uncontroversial and not business sensitive. What you suggest would be both.

Have just watched the programme, the bit about atlantic city was as it is, have been there myself, there is so much money at stake in tax revenue for the government that they will welcome casinos with open arms. it's all part of the fascination with regeneration.

The Dome misses out, Manchester the suprise winner....

you jest? After all the building work that's been going on at the dome.

Interestingly, Manchester got it because they thought it was the area that would benefit best from the regeneration.

Wasn't that delivered just five years ago with the Commwealth Games ?

Find it baffling that the North West Board wasn't even backing Manchester, but Blackpool, and the government goes against it...

Cop out decision, Government wanted the Dome or Blackpool.

Blackpool you can't get too, the Dome is a dangerous decison so they bottled it, so Manchester gets it, we shouldn't just have one in this country, should have 4 or 5 and let the market decide, but the patronising bollocks in the Guardian 18 months ago about how the poor working class would have it's brain fried has won out, and we got a fudged decision

Love it. Bet the Dome owners are doing their piece...

Still reckon there will be one at the Dome eventually. If Manchester is a success, i'm sure we'll see one there soon enough

    Totally agree with this.

Manchester has been chosen to allow other to be opened up at later dates. The noises coming out of the government suggests that there will be more than one super casino.

Without having one in London and Blackpool initially it gives an argument to people to say:

"We need one in London, its the biggest City in Europe" and "Blackpool deserves one as it is known for its heritage".

If the nod was given to London today then maybe there would be no need to open extra ones as the biggest and best was already there...
