The World Cup Prediction League is now open for any one that's wants to join, we already have 47 players raring to go...
It's free to join, free to play and the winner gets £25 in prize money...
Scoring is simple, you get 3 points for a correct score and 1 point for guessing the correct result....
If there are 32 or more entrants everyone will be split into 8 groups and everyone will play all the 48 group matches, the top 2 from each group will go into the Last 16 Knockout Stage, the game computer will work out the final tables with points first and then goal difference taken into account, this scoring system will apply throughout the competition...
The progression of the Group Winners and Runner Up will follow the same pattern as the 2010 World Cup, ie Winners of Group a will play the Runners-up of Group B etc., this pattern will continue throughout the competition...
Each player will predict the scores from those 16 games and the winning player from each game will go through into the Quarter Finals...
Those 8 players will again be head to head for those 8 games with the winners going through to the Semi-Finals...
The last 4 play the Semi-Finals Head to Head with the winners meeting to play the in the Third/Fourth Play Off and the Final, the winner get the £25 Prize Money...
In the event of a tie for any of the knockout games the players with the most Correct Scores in the competition will go through, if still undecided the number of correct results will be counted and if still undecided they will have a fight (or toss a coin)....
The ordinary league will be run alongside the Knock Out version and there will be a £10 prize for the winner, if the knock out version doesn't attract 32 players we'll continue with just the league with £25 for the winner and £10 for the runner up...

Anyone not made a prediction by then will only be entered in to the 'normal' league (which has a £10 prize)...
You can take part in both leagues at the same time...
The top two players from each Group go into the last 16 knockout stage, the losers will still be involved in the League Version as will everyone else...

For each correct teams number of goals you score, you receive that number of +goals. e.g. you predicit 2 and the team scores 2, you get +2 goals...
For each incorrect number of goals you predict per team, you lose the difference in goals. e.g. you predict 3 and the team scores 2, you get -1 goals...
I've tried to make the goal difference less complicated but it doesn't work...
At least everyone is subject to the same rule...

Wow, ValleyGary has made it an amazing three correct scores out of three, what do you fancy in the 3 O'clock at Ellis Park, Gary...?
RedRobin and Pedro45 also scored maximum...
At least twelve others claimed a point by getting the right result...
South Africa 2-1Mexico and France 1-1 Uruguay...
Mexico score was correct so he gets +1 goal...
South Africa scored 1, so you minus the 2 he predicted from the 1 goal scored from =-1...
France and Uruguay scored 0 goals so they are both -1...
So that's +1 and -3 = -2..
I know it looks and sound complicated but that's the way the goal difference works with this game...
After 48 games you'll find goal difference has very little to do with the league standings anyway....
That result got everyone off the mark with no-one now on zero points...
Kap10, Tennis60, Vindaloo1 and Pedro45 all got the prediction correct...
Looks like Group H is turning into the Group of Death...
