I know, I said "not saying it could happen like that", was just an example. My point was that unfortunately the money is more important than Bailey not being in the same division.
[cite aria-level=0 aria-posinset=0 aria-setsize=0]Posted By: Scoham[/cite]What would everyone take out of[b aria-level=0 aria-posinset=0 aria-setsize=0]Bailey to Southampton for £1.5m[/b]or a Championship side for £750k? Not saying it could happen like that, but as much as we don't want to see Bailey in this league playing against us, we also need the best offer possible.
We will not offer you £1.5m for Bailey, especially when we could offer Doncaster £1m and get Brian Stock.
Oh i think you might! Pardew would do it just because he can

I think the best deal you'll get is the same that Palace and Bristol Rovers have for Fonte and Lambert.
£800k upfront
£200k on promotion to The Championship
£200k after a certain amount of appearances
Assuming we're actually interested and Sky Sports are not making stuff up again.
It must be lovely to have all that cash to spend after having your debts wiped out.
I bet all the businesses that lost money after dealing with Saints are overjoyed at the funds now available to cash in on other teams players.

Pardew wont pay over the odds? Based on what?
I guarantee you've sacked him by Christmas and regret every penny he's spent.

If he goes to Saints I don't think the same division thing is that much of an issue, as realistically we're not going to be competing for the top 2 this year like Southampton will. With their budget, I'd be surprised if Southampton don't win the league (even with Pardew's inadaquecies). It's not like we're handing the advantage to a key rival as in all liklehood we'll be competing for different spots. Imo we'll be scrapping around the lower playoffs places and Southampton will go up automatically.

Another fan of another club who's opinion isn't correct.
Why does everyone assume because we went into administration we owe'd money to several companies? We're not Pompey. We don't rip of HMRC/Local businesses.
Our only creditors were Aviva and Barclays.
If Charlton were to go into administration, then get a mega money man come in, would you object to him wanting to take you back to The Premiership by given you a bigger budget than everyone else in the league?

[cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]as much as it hurts me cos pardew was a tool for us ... he will get soton promoted next year
Liebherr will get Saints promoted.
I couldn't give a shit who gets us promoted, Pardew or Liebherr's money.
I still have my doubts about us getting promoted next season.

I doubt that, even if Saints do get off to a bad start and he gets sacked, do you really think Saints fans would regret the signings of Fonte or Lambert?
I think it's been shown many times throughout the divisions that simply having oodles of cash is not enough on it's own. You need the right man spending it and organising his purchases - Abramovich only really got a return on his £££££££s once Mourinho was in charge, for example, and Man City should have walzted a Champions League place this year but didn't.
Looking at it objectively, Pardew's managerial record is patchy and in particularly his transfer dealings are very hit or miss (for every Reo-Cocker or Benayoun there's a Varney or Mcleod). For that reason, whilst you have to expect Saints to be a strong side next year, I don't make them the run away favourites everyone else does - after all, even with their points back they would only have made the play-offs this season and it's not like he spent nothing is it?

Good points. I can't help thinking that at this level though, money is indeed king. In the prem, paying 25m instead of 12m for a player does guarantee you class, but then again so does 12m. I'm saying that both players will be good. Here, any money above 300k guarantees you a player a cut above the rest of the league...

True, will only really matter if he's playing against us, and that's only 2 league games a season. Southampton running away might even help us if they take points off all the teams around us.

Dont worry Pardew will get rid of it for them

Spot on IA, and I think if Saints don't get off to a flyer then Liebherr will dispose of Pardew quickly.

He even got us the JPT, which isn't a great trophy but it was many Saints fans first experience of winning something at Wembley.
