Hi everyone,
First, let me admit I am a sad Grimsby Town fan getting used to the idea of Conference football next season and my interest in the above game is the 2 ex Town players involved, Charlie Wright & Matt Tees ,who went along with Rod Green of course (what went wrong there?), Tees was always a particular favourite of mine.
I recently bought a DVD of Charlton v Hull City (Match of the Day Nov.16 68) from the excellent http://www.classicfootballdvds.com/ which i can highly reccommend, then I found out the Derby County game from January 69 was 'The Big Match' on LWT.
I know this was well before VCRs but there are quite a few of these games circulating, maybe repeats such as the Hull City game I got hold of, so my question is ,does anyone have this game , even if it is on scratchy VHS, I would really love to see it!
Failing that does anyone have old press reports of this game or other games from this time featuring the ex Mariners, maybe gathering dust in an old scrapbook that could be scanned & posted on here or e-mail me?
I realise this is a big ask but you get kind of nostalgic at times like these and you seem like a good bunch on here, not the usual name -calling and arguments you find on football forums
Yours hopefully
Mariner

I actually still have a scrapbook from when I was a kid, 1967-68 and part of 68-69 - up in a trunk in the loft with about 5 million Charlton progs, including that time.
Lots of mentions regarding Sir Charlie Wright, our very own Hong Kong international; and of course Matt Tees (along with Ray Treacy) our goalscoring hero.
I have great memories of both players, when watching games with my Dad.
Matt Tees and Rod Green signed together for Charlton in February 1967 for a combined fee of £23,000
There's also an interesting article on the Charlton official club website:
Link:Matt Tees
There's also many threads of Charlton matches in the late 60's, on which loads of us old gits indulge in our childhood recollections. Again lots of recollections of Charlie and Matt Tees.
Go to the search facility at the top of the page.
And you'll find them under the Username "Home and Away".
