The combined contributions of these over the course of last season was close to zero, so would make financial sense to get rid. I wouldn't think this news has any bearing on others in the squad staying or going, just a clear statement that there is unlikely to be any "waste" in the squad as has been evident over the past number of seasons. I can see next years squad being made up from a pool of about 18 or so established players + the up and coming youngsters to maybe a total squad of 24ish in total. Others will go and there will be plenty of decent players out there accepting reduced contracts, so better to be had for less money than say McKenzie & Spring.
Please note - he was Parky's first signing for money..........never got anywhere making an impression in the first team. Glad to see Parky has the same eye for a player as Pardew did.
hardly the same, Spring probably cost us less than 100k

Also Spring came in during the January window as Parky tried to do something to save us from relegation with very little money as those tossers Pardew and Dowie spunked it all.
As we know only too well, given that we are invariably on the wrong end of it, clubs like Charlton get stuffed in January.
[cite]Posted By: GNelson[/cite]Shame that we're losing Spring, I think he's decent. Not any major blows there though
Agreed, if we are going to lose the rest of our midfield as is expected I thought he could have done a decent job for us next season. I think there may be "behind the scenes" issues with him which is why he was the forgotten man towards the end of the season.
the only 'issue' with Spring was that he is a p*ss-poor player (one goal against Palace not withstanding)
appalling signing from Parky
wonder how much we paid him in wages over the last 16 months - and for how many minutes on the pitch....

Can't really class that as money wasting - down to one fit keeper at the time so had to get back up in.
As for Sinclair - Pardew at his very worst. Knew when we signed him that he'd never get near the first team. What an utter waste of £250k(?). Same with Fleetwood, spending money for the sake of it.[/quote]
My only surprise is that warner was still here at the ejnd of the season, I always felt that we shouldm have got a keeper in an 6 week basis, so that when Elliot was fit we could release them.

*bangs head on desk*
me too.
Of the many things you could criticise Parky on his eye for a player would be the last IMHO.
Burton, Dailly, Richardson, Llera on free's. Ried, Jackson, Borrowdale on loan.
Good luck to them all but especially Jack Clark.
Dickson will do it in league 2, Spring will get a gig somewhere as he can play a bit, McKenzie is a talent but injuries mean he might not get another club, Sinclair will be playing for someone in league 2. Warner might retire but would be a good back up for someone.
I agree with Henry, Burton has been class for us, Dailly a superb signing at this level, Richardson could easily play in the Championship, Llera is an honest decent centre half (who is prone to the odd ricket). Reid is a genuinely exciting player, Jackson is quality and was unlucky with injuries and Borrowdale never gave less than everything.
Given we are a third tier club each of these signings are very good.
With Moo2 in his last year he and his agent might be more open to a figure like £100 - £200k to cancel his £400k pa contract and take the chance of resurrecting his career somewhere else on a lower wage. Still saves us £200k pa and gets a bad apple out of the building.
On the other hand he might decide this is the last stop on the gravy train so why get off before the end.
Mcleod seems more open to going out on loan and trying to make something of himself but I'm not optimistic that we'll move either of them on in such a depressed transfer and wages market.
I think Stuart Fleetwood is out of contract next year but with mckenzie and dickson going (plus possibly burton, mooney and forster) does anyone think he'll get a run in the side or will he just be loaned out again?
The only reason i ask is because ive never actually seen him play. I only know that he has been on-loan at Exeter scoring 4 goals in 27 games, but maybe he would be more prolific in a better side, chances are he wouldn't.
Glad all these players have been let go. It's pretty obvious how things are going to work. The board will try to keep as many of our players as possible but on reduced contracts. It's down to the players and their agents to see if they can get a better deal elsewhere. It's why I didn't mind Burton and his agent sounding out other clubs. The sooner everyone's situation is clarified the sooner Parky can plan for next year. Hopefully no other club will have the resources to buy Bailey or Semedo as they would be invaluable next year.
Bit suprised by Spring being released. Maybe we didn't offer him a deal or perhaps he wanted to guarantee playing next season. Lets hope that some of the wages saved from the cull can help towards keeping even a couple of the decent players.

I think this proves the takeover is imminent
