Next Season

Bit early for predictions I know as we have no idea what the quad will be like but where do people think we will finish next year....I reckon 5th bottom and I would probably take that at the moment. I see a mass exodus of players and possible administration on the horizon meaning -10points at some stage!

Jeez, I hope I am wrong!

  • The lower side of mid-table
  • It's going to be a much weaker league next season in my opinion bar perhaps Southampton who I can see walking it. We are going to lose key players but perhaps a couple of shrewd signings in the free / loan / lower and non league market could see us surprise a few people and hit the playoffs. The thing that does worry me though is a potential points deduction and killing our season before it has started.
  • Where do people think we will finish next year.........Still at The Valley but sharing with.....?
  • Mmm, I think we should enter admin if only because I think we'll survive next season with a deduction. We've got a good squad, despite the people who I think will leave. Parkinson should go, I'm afraid; he's failed in the task I charged him with - promotion.

    Going in squad number order:

One of Elliot or Randolph will go.
Richardson might go, doubt it though.
Youga will stay and probably go in January or something, seeing as he's injured.
    Bailey's gonna go.
    Llera will stay.
    Semedo will go.
Racon will stay, but maybe go to some team with a questionable manager, because he looked flash with fresh legs against Swindon.
McKenzie can go, don't know if he will though.
    Burton will probably go.
    Sam will probably go.
    Basey will stay.
    Spring will stay.
    McLeod, he can go.
    Waggy will stay I think.
    Dickson can go.
Sam Sodje, no idea what the situation is but I'd like him to stay.
    Dean Sinclair...?
    Solly will stay.
    Fleetwood can go.
Mooney will go back, maybe we'll bring him back on loan? I don't know.
    I hope Reid stays.
Stavrinou, Mambo, Tuna, Clark, Davisson and Binks will all stay I believe.
Akpo - what's the situation? Did we sign him permanently to get around the 5 loanees thing? I don't know. I'm indifferent as to whether he stays or goes.
    Dailly I think will stay.
    Borrowdale goes back to QPR.
Forster might sign on a free, but I don't know. I'd like that though.
    Warner, he can go.
    Fry - meh.

One of the people like Bailey/Semedo/Sam will be surprising and stay though, I think.

So next season I think we’ll see a team something like: Elliot, Richardson, Basey, Dailly, Llera, Sam, Wagstaff, Spring, Racon, Burton and Forster.

However we need… more bodies, basically. Someone like Ian Thomas-Moore from Tranmere would be good up front for us I think, if we can prise him away. In defence… I don’t know, I’d like to see us bring in a good centre-back and if Frazer goes, a right back.

Manager-wise, I wanna see Kins, Powell or someone like that. Someone with a real love for the club.

Overall, I hope for us to have a decent season, perhaps challenging for playoffs, or solidly good mid-table or something. I won’t predict just yet.

No chance racon or sam will stay. I think Burton and richardson will be off aswell

I think it could end in disaster throwing Powell or Kinsella in. We need a manager with some experience, who can bring in players with enough about them and the right character. For now I think that will be Parky. He did fail to get us promoted but I don't see any proven managers out there that we can afford, and would be an obvious improvement.

    Hi Valleyman,

Don't let thinking about it ruin your summer.
You sound in need of a good holiday - or at least a few beers.

    Cheers,
    Oggy

  • [cite]Posted By: PaddyP17[/cite]Parkinson should go, I'm afraid; he's failed in the task I charged him with - promotion.

By that logic, does that mean Nicky Bailey should also go ...... because his horrendous cocked up pass gave Swindon their equalising aggregate goal - and his horrendous cocked up penalty ensured we were eliminated?

Without his skipper's hapless interventions, Parky would be walking out with his Charlton team at Wembley.

No by your reasoning everyone would have to go because everyone's mucked up at some stage this year. We never lost promotion in one game on a monday night we lost it over a season. Also there's been many times when bailey's goal has got us a win. That cant be said for many players in the squad
  • It was a comment in specific reply to Paddy's post, Uncle.

I wasn't meaning to knock Bailey overall, he's made a fantastic contribution over the course of the season .......just pointing out that Parky can hardly be blamed for Bailey's Monday moment of irrational thinking or his penalty miss. If Bailey had made different decisions, then Paddy wouldn't necessarily be saying what he did. Well, not yet anyway.

As I said before, my reply to Paddy was specifically in the context of his post .... and not aimed at Bailey generally, or any other player.

  • Anyone got any idea when the fixtures are out? Want to plan some away trips and weekends.

Usually the third thursday in June to the best of my knowledge.

Not really; Parkinson failed over the course of the season, not just one game. Northwich Victoria (obviously that was a cup game, but still), Millwall away, Norwich at home (that was bad luck admittedly), Leyton Orient at home... I could go on. And what did he do at the end of last season? Not much. Though, the team was ridiculously low on morale at that point.

It's not really right to if and but about things, so I'll leave it there. Parkinson, in my humble opinion, should leave.

Parkinson failed over the course of the season?

We finished one win away from going up automatically and lost on penalties in the PO semi-final.

All of this whilst having no money to spend and carrying at least 1 million quid's worth of Pardew's shite on the wage bill still.

Apart from Leon McKenzie I can't see that Parkinson has made a single bad signing.
  • I went to the Norwich away game and think that's where this season started to go wrong - 2 goal lead thrown away.

The division has lots of big defenders and Burton did his level best to provide knock ons for whoever was playing with him.

We need a big centre forward.

Yeah i can see where your coming from, that was gutting for them to nick that goal at the end....especially when it was a foul! against them twice we deserved to win and got 1 point that could be the difference or could be many things but i agree with you there we never got back to the form after that, whether we lost confidence or whether parky did so started chopping and changing who knows
  • Saints could walk it. Dont forget Sheff Wed are coming down i cant wait to go to Hillesbourgh again i love that ground. Plymouth are nothing to worry about and Peterbourgh are just as poor. Coming up nothing looks to threatening seems to be a weaker league next season.

Hopefully two, Akpo will be one, hopefully a second who is also a more natural goalscorer. Had a quick look on wikipedia, all the top goalscorers (looked at 19 goals or more) in this league are at least 6 foot, rather than the small quick poacher types.
  • Fixtures on june 17th.
After having suffered the compensation saga with Pards,
don't ever imagine seing Parkinson go before the end of his contract.
Unless someone comes in for him (i'm only trying to be funny).

    You jest but Colchester might.

Parky is respected there as is Kinsella incidentally.

Peterborough have an ambitious chairman, they will spend. Gary Johnson wouldn't have gone there without the assurance of a decent budget. Also remember they only got promoted a year ago and have added to that squad without really losing anyone.
