Would you go to last nights game again if you already knew the outcome?

For me yes, and I would pay again, great nights entertainment, fantastic shift put in by the team, great atmosphere, quality time with me boy, something he will remember for a long time, I still remember big games I went with my dad 25/30years ago, hearing Red Red Robin still gives me tingles and takes me back to my earliest Charlton Memory of kevin Dickinson running out and kicking the ball high up in the air coming out to the same song.

Some of them memories are priceless and I think I have finally got over Hendrys goal for Blackburn and West Hams last minute goal in the FA Cup at Selhurst.

It'll soon pass as it seems just as long ago I was screaming Newtons winner against Ipswich and making arrangments for Wembley.

There will be good times at again at some point, if you want them now, start saving for a Season Ticket at Arsenal, Chelsea, Totteham.

  • No. Been going for over 30 years so have had my fair share of disappointments. Nothing, however comes close to how I felt after the game last night.
  • Strangely I felt worse after the Norwich game...

Me too. The Norwich game was the chance to carry on thinking about automatic promotion as a viable task, the playoffs are as so often called a lottery. We played well and went out 96 was far worse in the pain stakes than last night

Dont want a play off place, must be automatic, couldnt stand the tension at times last night
  • Im feeling alright... ive actually really enjoyed the season..
  • I haven't missed a home game for 15 years so yes would go again. Would also have a large bet too :)
  • great question !
  • Yep, agree on the large bet idea too!
  • Had a sinking feeling about the match from hours beforehand, so deep down I did already know the outcome. Still made a big effort to get there and would do so again. Would have been even more agony to watch on TV.
  • Nope. Wish Id stayed in, drunk tea and played the Wii. ;-)

It's about the highs and lows though. The memory and pain of last night will be there for ages but that will make the next promotion taste even sweeter.

Cant imagine many man utd fans of my generation feeling the same highs of beating chelsea 4-2, winning at wembley or whatever our next triumphal moment is as they are not accustomed to the lows.

It's certainly character building and I find that supporting a club like ours gives you a good perspective on life. When it gets bad it can get real bad but then when the good times come round they are bloody good and worth waiting for!

me too.....in a strange way I'd rather we went out last night than I forked out the best part of a ton to watch us lose at Wembley (to Millwall!)....now that would've made me feel 100 times worse.

We'll go again next season and the away trips I've been on this season (done more than in the past few years) I've really enjoyed and looking for the fixtures to come out to plot a few more.....weekend in Plymouth looks good!
  • Of course I would go again, enjoyed the atmosphere and stupdidly genuinely believed we would do it after 70mins.

Agree with Eltham, losing at Wembley on pens would have been even worse!
  • Yes - but I would've made sure I went to the loo before Mooney scored our second goal :-(
  • no that hurt too much im with dave mehmet on this one worst i have ever felt after a game.

    What he said.
  • Call me a cynic, but I had a bad feeling about last night. When they went down to ten men, I said something like 'This is the sort of situation where Charlton will turn an advantage into a struggle".

I thought the team played well last night and look very committed - something that was missing for a spell this season. Over the two legs, I think the scoreline reflected the truth - a whisker between the two sides.

Yes I would, apart from last night, the worst I felt last season was when Norwich scored in added time at Carrow Road, left the ground feeling like we'd lost.....................
  • In a word.........Yes.

  • Of course.....
  • One of the worst feelings of my life, but i'd do it again. More nerve wracking than any test i've done - made me feel physically sick in the pens... i couldn't watch; but i'd do it again!
  • At first I thought what a stupid question then considered would I have felt as bad had I not been there? Probably and maybe even more so. I'm happy I was there for such a great atmosphere and game obviously disappointed with the outcome but proud to show my support and and be an Addick.
  • If I was a neutral I would - but as a Charlton fan I get enough pain, without coming back for second helpings.
  • yes, so i coul shout to bailey to place his pen not blast it!
  • sink before STFC Bloke spots this thread!
  • Yes I would go again. However I would seats further up the north block. That row Z was not enough.
  • Course I'd still go - 17 quid is 17 quid after all :-)

I find penalty shoot outs gut wrenching even when it's two teams I don't care about so last night was pretty hard work at the end.

Not sure I feel worse than I did at Selhurst in 1996, a truly miserable night that was.
  • You mean you never knew what the outcome was going to be before going the first time...
