Next Season's side

Trying to make myself feel positive and thinking in detail about next season, presuming we can stay financially stable etc we might still be able to mount another outside chance for a promotion bid. Firstly, the league will be much weaker next season - Southampton will run away with it, but where we will lose Leeds, Norwich and probably Millwall, we will gain Pboro, Plymouth and Sheff Wed. Wednesday will probably be up there but I see Pboro struggling and possibly Plymouth with their financial difficulties. Certainly weaker sides. f Swindon stay down, they wont do as well again - they are poor as we have seen at the valley twice this season, paynter has had a freak season and Austin may well leave. Brighton could do well next season but generally there are going to plenty of sides scrapping for the play-offs.

In terms of our side, although we will lose a lot of players, we could very realistically retain the following side next season

GK - Randolph and Elliot should still both be around
RB - Richardson may very well leave so this could be a weak spot if we have Solly there
LB - Hopefully we will still have Youga, who is a decent player at this level in my opinion, we lost very few games with him in the side at the start of the season. If not, Basey is capable on his day in this poor quality division
CB - If Dailly remains I think he will still be capable next year
CB - Llera will probably still be here - he showed yesterday he can play on his (rare) day, and he was in the side during our excellent start
RM - Wagstaff - poor
CM - Semedo - if we can hang onto him that would be vital
CM - Racon - as with Semedo - unlikely we will keep both but if we can keep one and then have Spring step up to the plate.
LM - this will be a problem
CF - would have thought Burton would stay but maybe not judging on today
CF - regardless we cannot do much worse than this season in terms of strikers.

Midfield will be key as I think we could still have a reasonable defence. And then it is down to Parkinson to find us a scorer somewhere, somehow, on loan or free or from non-league.

    Optimistic:

Elliot (Randy will go imho) new back up keeper- linked to Richard Wright apparantly
Richardson with Solly covering and maybe even Jenkinson closer to first team
Dailly, obviously will need a pay cut but won't get a better offer imho.
Llera, new CB to cover maybe Fry again on loan
    Youga (I hope) with Basey

    New RM with Waggy covering
Semedo (ok I am dreaming) with Stav covering
    New CM
New LM with Basey/Waggy also there

Burton (possible, if fit for whole season could be a big big player), also maybe Akpo although not sure about him as main striker
new ST- maybe Forster- won't get a champ move and can't be on huge wages). Also have Tuna as a bench option.

    Eliott

    Youga
    Dailly
    Llera
    Richardson

    Wagstaff
    Semedo/Racon
    Spring
    Jackson

    Burton
    Forster/Sodje/Rooney/my Nan
  • Striker wise-

currently out of contract who might be possibles

    Will Hoskins
    Leon Clarke
    Big Chris Iwelumo
Jon Macken - as a last resort

    non-league options -

    Richard Brodie
    James Constable

    do your best parky!
  • I'd forgotten who we get back soon

    The goal machine Izale McLeod!
  • Elliot

Fry (Don't see Youga staying, and not sure Basey will be fit for pre-season)
    Dailly
    Mambo
    Solly

    Wagstaff
    Semedo
    Spring
    ????

    Akpo
Mooney - yes, I would like us to sign him.

Going to be a mix of old heads and kids. Really hope we can keep Semedo, but probably dreaming. Would like to keep Burton, too, but not sounding likely. More chance Dailly will stay.
  • I think one of the things swindon have shown is that you can do well with a poor team that has decent strikers in this division, so getting somone that can score goals needs to be a priority. That said where do we along with everyonelse looking for them find them and how do we pay for them

Do they really have a poor team? I don't think they do. Likes of McGovern and Douglas are good players for this league, are they not? As good as anyone we have. Greer is probably very solid for them.
  • If only we hadn't let Lisbie go

    Randolph

    Frazer
    Dailly
    Llera
    Basey

    Wagstaff
    Semedo
    ?
    ?

    Burton
    Akpo

    Manager: Parky

Racon, Bailey, Sam, S Sodje and Youga are the ones I imagine will go. I thought Burton would but with that SSN rumour who knows. Hopefully one of the question marks is J Jackson but who knows how much say Parky will have to say on transfers and how limited his options are. I guess we could handle losing Frazer as Solly can probably step up to the plate if required but I think we can just about hang onto him and Semedo.
  • Can see something along the lines of:

    Randolph
    Solly Dailey Mambo Basey
    Waggy Spring (LOAN) (NEW)*
    Tuna Forster

    *Preferably Jackson

    Out:

    Bailey
    Racon
    Sam
    Youga
    Dickson
    Fleetwood
    McLeod
    Spring
    Moutouakil
    Sinclair
    McKenzie
    Borrowdale

    Hope to stay/acquire:

    Burton
    Semedo
    Mooney
    Forster
    Reid
    Jackson
    Omozusi
    Dailly
    Richardson
    Sam Sodje

    Should keep:

    Wagstaff
    Solly
    Basey
Randolph / Elliot - unsure what to do here really
Akpo Sodje (believe he's a done deal)
Jordan Cousins might get a look in next season if his progress continues
    Tuna and Mambo as well

Dunno where Fry is really either, largely depends on how many defenders we can keep.

    Exactly...
  • Sadly I think Up The Addicks team is the cloest to reality. No chance Semedo is still going to be here.
  • Mate of mine reckons there is a Finnish kid at Liverpool who pretty awesome. 17 or 18 years old

we really need to take advantage of the Liverpool linkup

    lauri dalla valle

don't think they would risk any of their 'wonderkids' to come here. jay spearing, stephen darby, nathan eccleston are more likely to be offered to us.
  • Jay spearing is a good player, would be a good signing for the centre of midfield next season.
  • All 3 of those would be decent next year
  • all 3 of those will also sign for a championship club on loan not league one, we might get the chance to sign the guys a yr or so younger than that bunch

Spearing probably will but Darby is at Swindon and Eccleston was at Huddersfield so no reason why they won't be loaned back to league one. I think people are reading too much into the Liverpool 'agreement', i would bet money that nothing comes of it.

same as it never said there was an agreement just that the idea was being mouted
  • I can give my boots a clean, if it helps like!!
  • Why has no one put Sam Sodje in their team ? I cannot see him leaving imho.
