I just keep reliving the moment Deon Burton...

... turned, shot and missed the goal completely. We had 20 shots on target to their 8. 7 off target to Swindon's 4. I know we hit the post and bar a few times but I just can't get over that miss.

  • I thought it glanced off the defender and should have been a corner.
  • Every player should be proud for last night. They had an absolute stormer. Yeah a few silly mistakes were made but they played out of their skins and were a credit to the shirt i think.

Hope we can keep the squad in tact as much as possible as their was a real team spirit last night and would be good to carry it on to next year.
  • No I was right behind it. That to is going over and over in my mind. Also the mooney chance wen hecouod have squared it to waggy, but went for a hatrick instead

I kicked the seat in front when that happened. got cramp in my foot and spent the next 5 mins with my shoes off stamping one foot on the other to try and ease the pain. I think I also swore once or twice when that happened.
  • No It didn't touch the defender, I was right behind it. That to is going over and over in my mind. Also the mooney chance wen he could have squared it to waggy, but went for a hatrick instead. Nothing anyone can do now though
  • He was offside though, it wouldn't have counted....
  • It was that moment more than Bailey's penalty miss, the cock up in midfield and subsequent defending prolapse, the Burton miss is what I see when I close my eyes. If only... if only.

    I'll get over it eventually.

Was he? I missed that. I must of been holding my head in my hands.
  • You will be laughing about it as we frolic on Bournemouth beach August bank holiday.
Or curse as the wind whips in from the sea on a cold Tuesday in February.

Yes, I know you're right. Besides, it's all good practice for when England cock up in South Africa.

  • I said at the time, if we were going to win, that was our chance.

When it didn't go in, you got the feeling that it simply wasn't going to be our night.

IIf it's the Burton chance I'm thinking of, a couple of minutes before the end of extra time, then he certainly wasn't off side.
  • Yep that's the one BDV, I know there were a few players that missed their chances, Waggy's shot from distance that cam off the post for example. But Deon...whhhhhhyyyyyy!
  • How many corners did we completely waste

    :(

And he had FCKIN CRAMP as he hit it. He put his all into 105mins and was just labouring, cant blame him for that hes not a fckin teenager, still composed himself for a cracking penalty though.

  • Well the lino had his flag up I know that...so there was something wrong somewhere....thought it was Deon offside, as did a few others round me....so now I don't know why he flagged but flag he most certainly did.
  • To clear this up

have just watched it and he was NOT OFFSIDE

Either you must have been thinking off another scenario or, well I cant explain your post
  • Would he have been flagging for a goal kick????
  • This was the moment for me i realised it was going all the way.

I was already running down the steps.
  • he turned really well for that shot though eh!

it's not like he fooked it, is it?
  • Not meant as a criticism of Burton at all, I thought he was superb last night.

But for me, when that didn't go in, I had the horrible feeling that the gods were against us.
  • the burton chance is what I keep seeing, haunting me. Got to do better. :(
  • Apologies if I may be talking about a different chance, I do know Burton had one miss he probably should have buried, but the flag was up (for what, and rightly or wrongly I don't know.) Saying that, Burton's been immense this season, would be in with a good shout for POTY but fof fitness/injury issues.

We've had our fair share of shite refs this season - I think it's the division we're (still) in. But if he's equally shite for both teams, doesn't it even out?
