I understand that, but it would be bit disappointing considering we were regularly selling out during the Premiership years and this is the biggest game since then. Where have all those 'fans' gone? Would make target 40,000 seem extremely unrealistic, although I guess it was only a few years ago that target 10,000 was running.
I imagine it won't be much beyond 19- 20,000 if we get tonked on Friday night.
A win or a draw and it'll probably be a healthy crowd.
My guess is many people are waiting til the weekend to buy their tickets and plenty will hope to buy on a walk up on Monday.
Simple. Most of those 'fans' weren't 'fans'. They were looking to see Premiership football. We can't offer that any more, so they just don't go any more. Happens to most clubs that get relegated - with the odd exception (Leeds spring to mind). We've got a premier league ground to fill, but are a league one side. Like Henners said, we'll sell what we sell.
[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]I'd guess we'll have the biggest home gate of the four clubs in the play-offs
Not difficult when none of the other 3 have capacities of more than 20k.

Even Leeds' crowds dropped massively. Regularly got over 35k in the premiership, but for a lot of games in this league they were below 25k. Which is still good considering Ken Bates prices.
Agree it would be disappointing (maybe a good result on Friday will help the final figure) but it will never be as disappointing as the measly crowd of under 8,000 that turned up for the Grimbsy game in '84 (game after being saved from oblivion).

Or for the last game at the Valley. Remember how far we have come since then (up and down)

.
Huddersfield holds over 24k If I remember correctly but that is one reason why I thought it was a safe guess ; - )
Our crowds have been pretty terrible this season, so criticising your support is perhaps harsh. Watching the Championship playoffs this season (and many in the past) should be enough inspiration for your fans to buy tickets asap.
If you lose tomorrow, it's nowhere near over. I've seen Palace get comfortably beaten at Blackburn 3-1 only to win the return leg 3-0.
It's horrible losing in the playoffs, but it's also the most entertaining part of the season.
[cite]Posted By: SamB09[/cite]People would rather watch Arsenal ,Chelsea,Man Utd, than the likes of Brighton and Leyton Orient .. i dont see the problem.
It doesnt show much loyalty to the club, thats why people get annoyed. Because when you buy a tickets at the Valley you "should" and i re quote "should" be coming to watch Charlton but in the prem some people diddnt they only went to the Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U games to see those teams thats what annoys people. However its never going to change and if we ever get as high as the prem again it will probable happen again im affraid.
if the online ticket site is anything to go by then i make it that we have approx. 5,500 seats to shift in the home areas (meaning we sold around 1000 today). That figure doesnt include any empty seats in the family stand and i could be completely wrong.
The latest on ticket sales for Monday night's second leg is that 19,184 (inc away end) had been sold by around 11am this morning (MW) #cafc

As said I think some people will decide depending on the result tomorrow.
I really just do not get this obsession with gates of ours. Historically attendances have never been static but we seem to beat ourselves up constantly about not packing The Valley out for each and every game.
They'll be plenty there and anyway, maybe it's quality not quantity that counts.*
Has anyone received tickets for the home game through the post yet? I bought some online when they first became available but assumed they wouldn't be posted out until this week when the game details were confirmed. Just starting to wonder whether they will definitely turn up in time. Always got them very quickly in the past when posted out so I guess it should be fine still.

Got mine in the post on Tuesday, bought the previous Friday I think. With them being so rushed off their feet this week in the ticket office I'm sure tickets are being sent out sporadically and perhaps people not receiving as quickly as usual. I'm sure they'll be with you on time.
I haven't received mine yet and I ordered them Sunday.
I contacted the ticket office because you usually get them the next day. The manager emailed me to say not to worry as they can reprint them if they don't arrive for any reason. They were very helpful.
Grovelling apologies. Reading subsequent posts put a seed of doubt into my mind. Even my missus said didn't something come from Charlton a week or so ago. Sure enough when I looked in the usual draw there the tickets were. My only defence is that they were sent out so promptly I had too much time to forget I'd already received them ;-))
Will be listening tonight on a radio in the dark on a campsite in the wilds of Sussex, getting nervous already. COYR!

We'll sell what we sell.
17k sold as of Tuesday PM assuming Swindon sell the JS out.
Plenty of time yet plus there may well be a walk up sales on the day.
Wouldn't be surprised if a few are waiting to see what happens on Friday.

Henry beat me to it
