    Bloody pessimists
  • One of those eventualities could, of course, be a penalty shoot-out, and Parkinson admitted his men have been practicing spot-kicks.

He ruled out any chips down the middle, however, after Leicester City's Yann Kermorgant was left red-faced in their loss to Cardiff City on Wednesday night.

"We have been practicing penalties," confirmed Parkinson. "Funnily enough, when we started practicing I told the players that the one rule on penalties is not trying to be clever! It's about picking your spot and sticking to it."
  • Penalties? Just watch '98; not a duff one amonst the lot of them...........Chelsea as well......generally we've been OK ....oops.
  • Or we just go full out for the win and see what happens if we do get penalties, stick it infront of the North Lower and pick your place and hit it. If your name isn't Paolo you don't try to be clever.
  • Go and tell your own fans that rocking robin. I was confident against your lot when we had 9 men!
  • There's something odd about that picture

DANNY Wilson says any bookmaker backing his Swindon side to beat Charlton in the play-off semi-final must be mad.

The Robins were unfancied at the start of the season but a superb second half of the campaign - until draws slowed their progress in the final weeks - ensured they finished the season in fifth place.
“We will have a tough test against Charlton with the quality they’ve got,” said Wilson.

“Charlton are a Premier League team with that quality of player, and they play in front of 25,000 fans every week. Any bookie that had us as favourites in those circumstances wants shooting.

“Our target was to get to the play-offs - even if no one outside our club would have believed it was possible - and we have achieved that. Now we want to see it through. We have momentum and have played well against the fancied teams in this division.

“We are underdogs but that means we have nothing to lose."

Wilson trying to take the pressure off them and put it all on us.

Didn't realise we had Premier League quality players and had crowds of 25,000 every home game.

His mind games will not work! He's a regular Derren Brown.
  • Swindon are the underdog and underdogs often win.
Pressures back on you Danny. Don't mess it up infront of your 500,000 fans, sorry.. 10,000.

I've got to hand it to him. Those mind games are subtle. I didn't realise he was playing mind games until... eh... he said "tough test"

The quote is also internally inconsistent, but no matter.
  • Well, this is it.

46 games, 9 months and it all boils down to a two or three game shoot-out.

Have we got the combination of defensive organisation, attacking danger, confident fire and a bit of luck to see us through ?

The fact the 2nd game is at The Valley gives me confidence. We've been strong there there last few games and i think it will be a big advantage.

Swindon are to be respected as should any team that accumulates 80-odd points, but equally there is nothing there to overly fear. My concern is that tonight we will attempt a damage limitation exercise to keep things tight, slow the game down etc which may in turn invite pressure on and give them a bit of momentum.

Scoring goals is huge advantage, and if we can nick a goal or two tonight we have to make sure we don't then attempt to overly sit on it too much.

Should be a cracker, can' wait. I've a fear we may go down by a single goal, and i won't be distraught about that. But i just want to see the players play as a team, with confidence, and give everything they've got.

    COME ON YOU ADDICKS !
  • Good post AFKA. I'm sure we will try and keep it a tight game, it won't always work but it's been our strength recently as others have said before, rather than going out and attacking teams. Just hope we can get the balance right.

Team I expect will be the same, just a question of Sodje or Llera, and which striker to partner Burton.
  • With you AFKA see you tonight

i am cacking it here cant wait to get there
  • Very nervous. Just hope we don't f*** it up all in the 1st leg.

I'd take a single goal defeat at worst. I'm expecting a draw anything else is a bonus.
  • I think it will be a draw.

Even if we lose by one goal I'd still be confident of beating them at The Valley.
  • I'm really nervous about this, please don't let us down Charlton.

  • I'm so nervous. Made worse by the fact these games are on TV, and we all know how that ends up...
  • Yer Brentford, played class ;-) nah i no what you mean mate, but be confident, we have been playing well as of late!
  • [cite]Posted By: cafc_se7[/cite]Yer Brentford, played class

    But since then........
    Northwich
    Southampton
    Orient
    Bristol rovers

Any other abysmal live on tv performances?
  • Just seen the Sodjes on ssn, Sam has been in 5 play offs and never been promoted!

Sorry to put you all on a downer...

    3rd time 2nd 3rd time lucky
  • Play Llera then?
  • I'm worried about the potential goals in their side compared to us.

I predicted a Swindon win but hope to God I'm wrong!
  • Haha Chris I know we have played bad in the majority of games on tv, but seriously this is the playoffs, im not taking how we play on tv into consideration at all for this one im sorry!

Well Ketman Senior is even going tonight & slumming it with the Ultra's behind the goal rather than the Suit's in the Boardroom. His away record to date is Played Two, Won two (Brighton & Southend).
  • Len, I've had a really bad feeling about this one all week, we shouldn't be going into the game hoping for a draw, I hope Parky is playing mind games.
