Yes tomorrow night best to get the Star Ferry across and when you get off go to the taxi rank and ask for Lan Kwai Fong. he'll drop you in the middle of it all. Then head to Wan Chai for a bit more after.... lived there for 3 years. great place.

So how long ago did you live out there? The place changed after the Brits left but it's kinda changed back, I think. I regularly go to HK and still get a buzz out of the place. Not sure I could have lived there though, but know people who do and disappear into the hills at the weekends.
Was there for 48 hours on our way to Sydney. You can keep the harbour bridge, Causeway Bay and Kowloon was the the best bit of the holiday. Fantastic place, hope to go back next year.
I have an interview today....................if sucessful, Mrs Holyjo and the three junior Jo's will move out with me to live in August...........it feels like the adventure of a lifetime
An amazing place - very envious. Proposed to the missus on a boat betwen Kowloon and Hong Kong under the neon (not mega romantic, but a stunning backdrop) many years ago now.
As soon as the kids are old enough to appreciate it fully I'll be returning.
Sadly my memories of HK are landing in a monsoon, then spending several hours in the lounge getting pissed on my own before a 2 week business trip to Sydney which I hated!
From what I saw of the scenery it was amazing though
Just seen your msg - would love to join you but came down with a cold today which will keep me out of circulation. Recommendations:
Kowloon - (a) Ned Kelly's on Ashley Rd (TST) for the best rustic Dixieand jazz atmosphere in town from 2130hrs on. It gets packed. (b) Knutsford Terrace has a whole load of bars & resturants.
Lan Kwai Fong - anywhere down the strip. Insomnia is a cracker.
Soho - head up the escalator and again take your pick of the bars & restaurants.
Wanchai - once you've had your fun in LKF head downhill (in all possible ways) to Wanchai - Traffik, Rockskool, Joe Banana's, Mes Amis, Neptune's II & Dusk til Dawn should sort you out.
If you're in the Harbourview Hotel check out the little bar in the Hung Hom Star Ferry. Great place to chill.
If you make it back to HK full time, look me up. Likewise any other Addicks heading out here.
BTw - don't forget the basement Wanchai discos on Sunday afternoons - Laguna, Neptune's 2, Makati. Gotta see it to believe it - we call it 'tea dancing' but you might think of another appropriate description.
I was never allowed out with the boys on a sunday afternoon. well i used to get sent home early. So i did my bit for equality and bought out a handsome young barman at Dusk till Dawn at 4am one morning for HKD7,000. I still got the till receipt but fortunately they didnt actually debit my account. In fact the aforementioned young bar man signed it at my leaving do. ive got it in my desk funnily enough.
Tho sadly even tho they swiped my card, instead of him jumping over the bar he ran out the back and hid in the cellar. i dont know why...

wouldnt have left but were it for a need to grow up. Which hasnt happened.
I go there a bit for work and it is a great place to hang out, not sure i would want the family in tow!!
I have just agreed to move from Kuwait to Singapore, so I should be there beginning of July. Must admit i cant wait now to get there.
I am in Singapore 3 or 4 times a year so will let you know next time I'm over. Where are you going to live or not decided yet?

Not sure where we are going to be living. My new company is putting us up in a serviced aprt for a month when we get there.
it is likely we will be in D9/10 or 11, so not far from Orchard towers, clarke quay.
My office is in Raffles Place, so always easy to meet for a drink.
Great, my office is in in Raffles Quay so not far.

Any suggestions for the two days I have spare ?
Plenty of "Ex pat" bars on Causeway Bay
Edit: Sorry, just seen your in Kowloon : (

Take a trip on Star Ferries cross the harbour ... dirt cheap. Get the funicular railway up to the Peak ... great views on a good day.
Go across the island to Aberdeen and have a Chinese meal on the floating restaurants.
Have a good night out in Wan Chai.
