Bit of help ...... hopefully

Hi chaps, long time no post! Seems since my last visit your fortunes have taken an upward turn, while ours (the Mighty Vicsters) have stalled badly. Can you believe the FA/Conference have yet to stump up any FA cup cash to us, yet Pompey are already holding folding?

Anyhoo enough of my grumbling, I'll get to the point ! ..... wonder whether anybody looking in can help out with a little information please. Mate of mine is going to the game tomorrow, trouble is his request for a disabled parking spot in the CAFC designated car park fell through (big uptake for all car parking tomorrow no doubt) and unfortunately the people he spoke to at the club were unable to come up with any alternative suggestions. Realise that on-street car parking will also be at a premium, if indeed possible at all and that the local retail outlets understandably are keen to protect their spaces for their own clientele. ....... So basically any suggestions of somewhere within practical distance for a wheelchair user and obviously goes without saying, not expecting it will come free. At a push, is there a Park & Ride maybe?

Cheers in advance for information. Best of luck with the Play-off push -although if you check back on previous posts last Autumn, I think you'll see I said you'd do okay.

  • Plenty of park and rides in charlton although you have to buy them a few a wkd's first..

There's plenty of disabled bays splaterd around charlton and they are not designated to the home ownwer so if u see one and have a blue badge then grab it, failing that you want to be down the hill, so try gallon close se7 8sy my old house as flat and very near to ground, or asda or anchor and hope lane all flat so will be much easier to get to the ground without having to get up charlton church lane or charlton lane which is a killer at the best of times. Also try around the thames barrier again flat and not to far from the ground. Hope that helps.
  • If you get there early enough you can park for nothing at the road at the end of Wellington Gardens which is just off of Charlton Church Lane. From there the walk is pretty flat about 10 minutes to the ground.

The worst bit is probably having to walk back up Floyd Road.
  • Of course I now offer secure parking in the school grounds on a matchday you have to be parked by 1.15pm and wait for me till 6 or 7pm after the match to crawl up the hill to let you out, room for 50 cars, 5quid a car...

Oh and don't tell the headmaster ;-)
  • Always parked in Halfords on the Woolwich road for free. Never had a problem.
  • There is a disabled spot on lansdowne lane which is behind the valley which is not used by the current homeowners anymore as they got it and then feking moved two weeks later and now just takes up space. plenty of places to park if you get there early enough.
  • You can apply to the club to receive a disabled pass, which allows you to drive down to the ground and drop someone off there right by the turnstiles. You then have to wait about 20 mins after the game to be able to drive back down again.
  • Cheers for the suggestions folks.
