  • Looks like the European cup (for international teams) mixed with a fish. Bizarre.

It's a cartoon from local paper, The Kentish Independent, representing Charlton Amateurs frustration at being beaten again by local rivals Charlton Atheletic.

The Amateurs had never beaten Athletic and in this game the trend continued with 800 people seeing us win 2 - 1 on December 7 1912 at Fossdene Field.

This and many more cartoons from 1908 to 1915 appear in Richard Redden's book The Addicks Cartoons available in the Club shop.
  • That is Arthur Bryan (on the right), the fishmonger who's support of the club led to us being called The Addicks.
  • Is that supposed to be a cat fish?
