  • Great bank the home win then, beambacks always go pear shaped ala bolton away in the cup. Well done norwich let's spank another sack load against them...

    ;-)
  • just like our championship winning finale in 2000 sell outs everywhere to see them crowned champions at some stage
  • Am i right in thinking that if Norwich, Swindon and Millwall all win their next 2 games then Norwich can seal promotion with a win at the Valley?
  • good news for exiled addicks as this increases the chances of a internet live stream.
as for norwich selling out, they did it by pre sale ballot. my cousin lives with a norwich fan and they were unsuccessful in the ballot, so just phoned our box office and got tickets in home area. no red card. no purchase history.
  • I suspect there will be a fair few Norwich fans in the home end this year, there was quite a few in A Block of the East on last day last year but they got kicked out after 10 mins. Needless to say they won't be as problematic as Milwall but still expect more than 3000 Norwich fans.
  • we should give them half the east stand
  • [cite]Posted By: northstandsteve[/cite]we should give them half the east stand

Agreed. Norwich aren't exactly Millwall, Cardiff or Leeds so i'm pretty sure we could accommodate an extra 2k in the east. An extra 50k in our bank account plus whatever they'd spend in the ground. And at least that way we could police/steward it whereas now we'll have them dotted about all over the ground.
  • Chris - wouldn't having 5,000 carrot crunchers in your ground all on a piss up, celebrating being champions, rubbing your noses in it, making more noise than you whilst you are desperate for a win to carry on fighting for automatic, etc be too much to take?

Some things are more important than an extra £50k, and having 2k more opposition fans in the ground giving them a bigger advantage when my team need the win isn't something I'd be happy with!
  • They're not having my season ticket seat in the East, there could be Stuwall based confusion when I try to buy my ticket

I see your point about it giving them an advantage but to be honest it won't take much for them to make more noise than us!
Also if we lose tomorrow and Swindon win then our hopes of automatic will be pretty much gone anyway. If that hope has gone then i don't see the harm in giving them the extra tickets.

  • Swindon won't win tomorrow. Colchester will snatch a draw at least. I hope.

But Gillingham will get their first away win of the season tomorrow, as they always seem to get a result against us!

i would pray to every single god that be true. Please.
  • 2,000 Norwich fans would generate nothing like £50k - maybe £35k if you're lucky, after VAT and concessions. However, due to the way the seating and facilities are configured you couldn't easily accommodate 2,000. It would probably be more like 1,200 (off the top of my head), so the income is more like £20k. Then you have provide extra stewards and police, plus deal with disgruntled season-ticket holders who have been moved, as well as those upset at the club providing the Norwich team with a leg up, etc, etc.

We did look at this last season and it wasn't workable. I don't think there were significant numbers in home areas then, but obviously we are aware of it as an issue.
  • why sell STs in that part of the East anymore - could move the few renewers and give them a £15 club shop voucher and a couple of free cup game tickets as a gesture of goodwill (assuming we get a couple of home cup games!)
  • good idea, would look better if they were more fuller parts of the east stand

we accomodated 6000 orient supporters a few years back. what's not workable now that was then?
  • Pretty sure Yeovil had part of the east when we played them in the cup as well
  • And Leciester!
  • [cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite]And Leciester!
    haha!

    Also Wycombe in the cup.

We have to give a larger allocation for cup games than for league games, so we have to accomodate, the only clubs that do not have to worry about this who seem to get away with restriciting cup allocations despite the rules are the big 4

  • I think "in the cup" are the crucial words here. Presumably it's an entirely different scenario for a league game.
  • didn't realise we had to give them the allocation.
i thought by using the 'safely seggregated, extra police/steward' reason being mentioned now, we could've given them the js stand only.

Gillingham are due an away win so why not tomorrow.

spot on, be bad enough 3,000 of them celebrating winning the league without giving them even more...
  • some were glad to stick the knife in and laugh when/if we sent norwich down , some said w'ed prefer barnsley to go down cos they wont be as much as a threat to go back up .......
well here we are, nearly a year on and who's laughing now ;-(
  • Returned last night from a week away in sunny Tenerife so apologies for a delayed input to this thread.

I'd like to know Airman's response to Paulbaconsarnie's comment regarding Norwich fans buying tickets in the home area without a red card or a purchase history....Rather worrying I think in light of the opposition in the 2 home matches remaining and the likeliehood of emotions running high.
  • Keep themselves to themselves and I don't suppose anyone cares that much. Money in the bank and I would do the same in their shoes.

Mind you. Any Carrot cruncing in-bred yokel sits near me and he will be intoduced to a whole world of (my) pain!

    Init bruv?
  • seagal style
  • is there any other, brother?
  • the dudes still got it.
