Neil Harris defends Christian Dailly

edited April 2010 in General Charlton
Had a brief chat with Neil Harris today and the convo inevitably got round to our drubbing at their place, someone chipped in with a 'Dailly's mum must be millwall' to which Neil turned round and said "you can't have a dig at him". I asked if their players did during the game to which he replied "he's a bit of a ledge, countless games for and captained Scotland, played in the Prem for years, who are we to take the piss out of him".

Had a brief chat with Gary Alexander to and then they went off to play their second round of the day.

Nice life for some isn't it.

  • Good comments from Harris there, despite him playing for Milwall I actually quite like Harris. Seems a nice guy, been through a lot and a good honest pro. Seems to have made the best of his ability and good to hear that players do have a lot of respect for others that have achieved a lot.
  • they have us in their pockets so no need to stoke the fire i guess.
  • may play us in the play offs so why wind our players up. That said I like Harris, went over to the scummers fans to quieten them down after the game and also on TV talked positively about charlton fans
  • nice guy,but whether or not they wound us up we would lose this fixture sadly.
  • Agree - everything I've seen or read about Harris makes me respect and like the bloke. As cafcdan18 says - he's been through a lot (cancer is a f***er no matter who you play for), and he seems a genuine class act (a rarity in football - especially these days)

Jeez, alright mate - no need to rub it in.
  • still hurts me off-it.
  • Yeah i like Harris. Millwall or no Millwall, he seems like a genuine bloke and a good geezer. Id have him down the Valley anyday.
  • ever the optimist we'll beat em over two legs
  • sure we will.

as i said to mr dailly outside the valley that dark day.... Come on this hurts an you let us down. He was shaking his head an saying that he knew.
  • sorry bullshit he doesnt bleed charlton at all. Meant to delete that. Bit of late night birthday things.
  • [cite]Posted By: Mister Windscreen[/cite]Thought this was going to be a thread about Harris being a Barrister for footballers...what a disapointment!

I thought he was moonlighting as a bodyguard, but your story is even better.
  • When you say Harris went to quieten the "scummers" down after the game, do you mean Millwall fans? After what game was this?

& when did he make positive comments about Charlton fans? Was that on Late Kick Off the other month?

I think a few of your fans were getting proper excited when you beat us 4-0 and he went over and had a word. Thats what i heard anyway, as by this time i was throwing old bill hats around.
  • im now capable of editing my own rubbish.

He was very nice the other week on telly about us. In face he said he wished his own fans were more like charlton ones.

ValleyGary - like you I missed this supposed quieten down gesture - I was too busy rolling around the aisles with laughter!

Curb_It - I'm sure he did, nobody has a bad word to say about Charlton.....but what exactly, if anything, did he say?

Suprised you had room, what with being surrounded by plastics.
  • Why are you on here again?

    Do one!

    I was dribbling too.
  • He said credit to both sets of fans today. or words to that effect.

    harris
  • Oh right, hardly complimentary!!

He's not exactly gonna turn round say "those charlton fans are right muppets, all turned up arguing over what seats to sit in whilst others told them to stand up and sing, unpacking their replica tops out of their bags as they travelled undercover and then all left after the 2nd goal and spent 2 hours throwing police helmets around because the vast majority of them never had the bottle to turn left and walk out down Zampa Road like a small minority did, cracking fans they are, smashing" is he??
  • Its a shame the Millwall fans cant respresent their club in the same manner as Mr Harris does. Now, F**k off.
  • Yeah, a cheating drink driver.

Was he not also involved in something unsavoury at Nottingham?
  • not a harris fan sparrow?
  • Sparrows can I ask you a question?
  • Harris as a player is a legend.

As a person, not always the nicest so I hear. But what do you expect with someone from Essex? ;-)

But he's stuck with us now, so it's convenient for him to profess his love for all things Millwall and us for him!
