I thought the same footballs a funny game eh?

Love the stats as ever AFKA, good job!

Cant help but think Mooney's rating is not a true reflection, he is near the bottom yet has scored 5, 3 assists and people done see the intelligent runs he makes. but i reckon its just because of peoples mindset so they mark him lower due to who he is, shelvey also suffers from this :-( sad times as i have always rated players based on the game solely and dont think oh its mooney so ill give him a 1 more, or sam so ill go 1 more etc you get my drift just a shame people are so narrow minded

A lot of the ratings depend on the result. I've said before i (rightly or wrongly) strip out a lot of the silly ratings, the 0s and the 1s etc if we lose, but its fair to accept that when results are not so great then people mark lower.

In general though, people seem to be a lot harser in marking a poor performance lower than they do in marking a good performance higher. There haev only been 2 games this season where the ave. rating has been above 7.5, and one of those was Swindon at home and i think was a reward for a hard-working 9-man performance.

I think for next season, we should consider some form of weighted mark for those not playing (ie. the average rating), as it could be quite possible that Youga could end up the highest rated player for example, which was a reflection of the fact that the bulk of his scores where when the team were doing well.

As for Mooney, i personally think it is about right. He has a 1 in 4 scoring record, and 1 MOM performance in 20 games. Kyel Reid for example is averaging just 0.6 higher than him, yet has secured 5 MOM awards in just 12 appearances, scored 3 important goals, and has 2 assists from midfield.

The one thing the stats do show up is the consistency of Semedo throughout the season, and the strong spell Bailey had in the middle of the season.
  • We are Champions ... Champions of Brazil ;-)

    lol, great stats AFKA

  • These stats are fantastic.

Think the 'position in other leagues' goes to show how tight the teams at the top of league one are, as 5th is the lowest position of all the leagues.

    Great work AFKA

Yeah i do think thats a good idea so we are all using the same ranges & same average, i currently use 6.5 as average personally. although still no matter what the ranges you will have the personal spin on each player as in Mooney for example but still think its a good feature and always look out for it :-)

with mooney it is all about opinions but for example i would rate him above solly, although solly has given his all but been out of position and generally poor because of it where as Mooney tends to have 1 good game and then a bad game so on reflection should be higher but as solly is part of the academy and people realise he is being played out of position they will allow more for an average performance.
  • always love the stats - but the cards v carlisle are wrong - unless I fell asleep for the 3 sendings off!!
  • cheers Redman, amended.

Not sure what happened there. The way it is all put together does mean there is a large risk of human error, and i do tend to be a human who makes more errors than most !
  • Semedo one yellow away from a 2 game ban, would be a massive loss, as we don't have another essien on our books, bailey and racon do attacking same if you throw shelvey in there, maybe stick lera in cb and switch daily as the enforcer cm as he has done it loads in the past. Not sure who else could play the holding role.

[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]In general though, people seem to be a lot harser in marking a poor performance lower than they do in marking a good performance higher. Don't agree here (although what I'm about to say hammers home the point of a consistent marking system). People are in fact *more* generous of a good performance. If 5 is an average performance, then an average player rating of 7.5 is far further from the mean than the worst average player rating has been (4.64 against Millwall).

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to say great work on the stats.
  • Wonderful Stats AFKA. Appreciate the hard work.
  • Excellent stats.

One of the surprising ones is that Elliott is below Randolph and Ikeme. I suppose Randolph hasn't had enough games to have had a nightmare. Perhaps, I should stop at this point.

  • Wow! Bumper bundle of stats much appreciated. That must've taken a while. After such good home form up to Christmas it's a shame those dropped points against the lower teams will probably cost us in the end - but then every club apart from Norwich is likely to have their own "if only"s.
